About The Position

Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers is seeking a Director of Information Technology to join our team. The Director of Information Technology bridges enterprise technology with the mission of providing accessible, patient-centered care. Provides leadership, planning, implementation and oversight of the organizations information technology system. This position is responsible for the secure and effective management of health information systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity and technology operations while supporting high quality patient care and data security. Aligns IT initiatives with clinical, financial and operation goals. Design and deploy functional networks. Supervise and mentor team members, prioritizing and assigning work as appropriate. Configure and install software servers, routers and other network devices. Monitor network performance and integrity. Resolve escalated issues by troubleshooting technical infrastructure. Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness. Create, oversee and test security measures such as access integrity and disaster recovery. Maintain excellent communication with staff, vendors and leadership. Maintain complete technical documentation. Suggests improvements to network performance, capacity, scalability and security. Ensures organizational network and data communications are efficiently operating and impose no risk to the organization. Ensures that all Health Information Systems production operations are completed and do not negatively affect end user operations. Performs and ensures quality and effective installation and operations of value-added technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in computer science, Engineering or a related field required
  • Industry-related experience as a Senior Network Engineer or Network Administrator
  • Background in network administration and architecture
  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols and routing protocols
  • Understanding of access control models and network security
  • Understanding of network operating systems and their equipment
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools
  • Understanding of PC operations and maintenance
  • Ability to support PC printers and other peripheral in the support of end user operations
  • Practical experience in DOS/Windows and network operations is require
  • Ability to manage operations and utilization of a data communications network
  • Effective communication skills with end users as it relates to operations of the department specific information system
  • Ability to work independently
  • Organizational and mentoring skills

  • Previous hospital or health center systems experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the administration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, hardware, telecommunications, peripherals, and end-user systems across all organizational locations, mobile units, and telehealth operations.
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of all IT systems and communications, including voice and data cabling, connectivity, and system integrations.
  • Oversee hardware lifecycle management, equipment maintenance, software deployment, version control, and system configuration.
  • Identify opportunities to improve hardware maintenance, operational efficiency, and overall system performance.
  • Ensure all end-user equipment and systems meet organizational and operational requirements.
  • Lead advanced network administration activities, including integration management, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical maintenance issues.
  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership for technical support operations and IT service delivery.
  • Ensure efficient and effective support for end users through timely resolution of technical issues, maintenance requests, and production interruptions.
  • Oversee professional customer support services for common user issues, system operations, and end-user technology training and assistance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of system operations, technical procedures, maintenance activities, and support resolutions.
  • Monitor and analyze help desk ticket trends to identify recurring issues, improve service delivery, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and lead technical support projects to enhance operational effectiveness and user experience.
  • Oversee the implementation, optimization, maintenance, and daily support of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and related clinical applications to improve clinical workflows and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure seamless integration and functionality of data interfaces across Health Information Systems (HIS) and clinical functional areas.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to support technology solutions that enhance patient care delivery and workflow efficiency.
  • Lead organizational cybersecurity initiatives, including data privacy protections, risk assessments, incident response planning, and mitigation strategies to safeguard protected health information (PHI).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and security standards, including HIPAA, HITECH, federal grant requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce IT administrative policies, technical support standards, and documentation procedures.
  • Maintain system integrity, access controls, and compliance-related technology safeguards.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and quality leadership teams to support data extraction, analytics, reporting, and population health initiatives.
  • Support regulatory and organizational reporting requirements, including UDS reporting, grant compliance, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize operational data and service metrics to identify trends, improve performance, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, consultants, and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to ensure contractual obligations, service levels, and operational expectations are met.
  • Negotiate technology contracts, oversee vendor performance, and coordinate outsourced technology services.
  • Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets, including technology planning and resource allocation.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and direction to the Information Systems team, including project coordination, prioritization, and performance management.
  • Oversee deployment, maintenance, and optimization of patient-facing technologies, including patient portals, digital check-in systems, automated appointment reminders, and telehealth platforms.
  • Support innovative technology solutions that enhance patient engagement, access to care, and the overall patient experience.
