The Director of Individual Giving is a senior leader on the Philanthropy Team, responsible for meeting annual individual giving revenue goals across the organization’s C3, C4, and PAC entities. The role oversees major gifts, annual giving, and events strategy; manages a personal major-donor portfolio; and develops donor relationships through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The Director reports to the Vice President of Philanthropy and works closely with that leader on fundraising strategy and board fundraising, as well as with the communications team on online and direct mail campaigns. The Director manages the Deputy Director of Major Gifts, the Development Associate, and part-time Fundraising Callers, building a team culture rooted in donor-centered care, collaboration, and growth. The role also leads the design and launch of a revamped planned giving program, sets goals, tracks performance, and uses donor data to improve program effectiveness. The position is based in one of the organization’s California offices in Oakland, Los Angeles, Riverside, Sacramento, or Fresno. The schedule is a four-day work week for most of the year, with two days in the office and two remote; a temporary five-day work week may be needed during pressing deadlines or peak business periods.
