About The Position

Rowden is seeking a Director of Growth, US to convert its product portfolio, engineering credibility, and mission focus into funded contracts, strategic partnerships, and repeatable revenue in the US market. This is a founding commercial role for an entrepreneurial individual looking for a career-defining challenge with significant upside. The initial product focus will be on Rowden’s software-defined RF decoy product range, including the award-winning Mimic product, with future responsibility for scaling the Dovetail edge device management platform. The role reports directly to UK leadership, with support from central teams and collaboration with the US Mission Success Lead. The Director will own Rowden’s US footprint, shaping the brand and market position, with the ability to hire additional resources. Operational support for building the US business, including hiring, facilities, and compliance, will also be required. The ideal candidate is a former operator, program office lead, or technical delivery lead with senior commercial experience at a US defense contractor, a background in complex systems, and a proven track record of closing contracts across the full cycle of innovation funding (SBIR, OTA, PPBE). Compensation is competitive with significant upside potential for strong performance.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record closing sales through non-traditional and rapid acquisition pathways, including OTAs and SBIRs.
  • Demonstrated experience running formal or informal capture processes: shaping opportunities pre-RFP, leading competitive positioning and teaming decisions, and managing PWin through the pursuit lifecycle.
  • Ability to identify, establish, and leverage relationships with senior officials and program stakeholders to convert user-driven demand into funded programs.
  • Strong writing skills, with experience writing white papers, RFIs, and proposal responses.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Hold an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to travel 40–60%.
  • Ability to complete 6-week onboarding at Rowden’s Bristol HQ.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in communications systems, RF sensing, SIGINT, or electronic warfare.
  • Experience working for a foreign-owned company scaling its US presence.
  • Working knowledge of ITAR and EAR export control regimes.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and shaping new sales opportunities early, often before a formal requirement exists.
  • Positioning Rowden’s product and brand credibly for each opportunity and audience.
  • Owning the full opportunity lifecycle end to end, from first engagement through to signed contract.
  • Understanding how trials, exercises, SBIR/STTR, OTA, or innovation activities can lead to funded follow-on work.
  • Prioritizing and pursuing opportunities with the highest likelihood of conversion.
  • Building and managing strategically valuable partnerships and relationships across the US defense industrial base.
  • Leading commercial negotiations to support customer access, pricing power, IP protection, delivery effectiveness, and long-term scalability.
  • Representing Rowden credibly with senior government and industry stakeholders.
  • Feeding structured, technically grounded insights from customers, partners, and competitors into Rowden’s product roadmap and pricing models.
  • Maintaining regular, proactive communication with UK leadership, engineering, product, and commercial teams.
  • Ensuring strong alignment around pursuits, pipeline health, product roadmap, market positioning, and resource gaps.
  • Taking on operational responsibility for building Rowden’s US presence, supporting hiring, facilities, and compliance processes.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation packages structured to create meaningful upside for strong performance.
  • Flexible, hybrid-working model (average 3 days in the office each week, dependent on role).
  • Opportunity to discuss flexibility, part-time working requirements, and/or workplace adjustments.
