About The Position

The Director of Grants is responsible for the coordination of the institutional grant application and management process to advance the College’s strategic plan and new program development priorities. The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required.
Minimum of seven (7) years of progress leadership experience in preparing and managing grant proposals and programs.
Possesses track record of successfully securing Federal, State, and grant and foundation funding.
Demonstrated success as a principal writer of funded grants or contracts.
Understanding of federal, state and private funding agencies and the application and post-award management process.
Possess strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate knowledge and good judgment in matters of institutional policies and procedures.
Possess the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Be skilled with Google Calendar, Gmail and the internet.
Demonstrated ability to initiate and implement strategic plans.
Knowledge of multiple funding agencies.
Knowledge of grant, financial and data management software.
Possess the ability to prioritize while multitasking.
Demonstrated ability to manage and train faculty and staff.
Ability to think strategically, anticipate complexities, and plan or adjust accordingly, while communicating effectively with team and any stakeholders.
Demonstrated operational leadership skills, including ability to develop, implement, and realize goals and objectives.
Strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure while handling multiple tasks and time constraints.
Possess an ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Possess strong time management skills.

Nice To Haves

Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience with a higher education institution, particularly a community college, would be preferred.

Responsibilities

Work with divisional deans, vice presidents and project directors to co-design, implement and manage a comprehensive institutional fundraising plan to meet goals.
Working in partnership with the Program Team and the President, write narrative for an array of purposes in support of the organization’s strategic plan and goals.
Both independently and in collaboration with staff, identify, cultivate and solicit new sources of public and foundation support.
Actively participates in assessment activities, serves on key strategic committees to advance best practice and readiness for assessment visits, and engages in regulatory compliance and oversight for all grants, ensuring effective management and use of funds.
Ensure the collection and dissemination of data collected by staff tasked to support the Institutional Research and grant reporting efforts.
Maintain a grants development and management strategy that supports business needs.
Manage department and sub-unit grant proposals and recommend grants management strategies for college.
Develop strategies and timelines for the stewardship cycle of new and existing grants.
Monitor progress towards fundraising goals; intervene to adjust strategies or implement new strategies as needed.
Liaise with the Program Team for timely and accurate grant reporting.
Work with finance team and other staff to develop and monitor budgets.
Maintain current knowledge of and adhere to changing policies and regulations.
Consistently and effectively interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff in a professional manner.
Promote a culture of presentation and information sharing to increase college-wide knowledge of grants and services and disseminates related project information as appropriate to a broad cross section of stakeholders, including external agencies and institutions.
Oversee the performance of all direct reports, including the day-to-day performance, disciplinary action, conducts written and verbal performance appraisal, time and attendance approvals, and staff compliance with HR policies and procedures.
Travel as needed throughout regional areas.
Be flexible to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
Perform additional tasks or duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or designee.
Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
