About The Position

As a member of 211's Administration and Finance team, the Director of Grants and Compliance is responsible for identifying, assessing, and responding to grant and funding opportunities, including but not limited to foundations, corporations, and government funding sources, to support 211 San Diego operations. This position works closely with program and fiscal staff to develop proposals and transition awarded opportunities into implementation, monitor contract and program compliance and reporting. The opportunities identified by this position will generate and sustain revenue streams necessary for 211’s daily operations to function at full capacity and in a sustainable way.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, nonprofit management, social sciences, or related field required
Minimum 5 years of experience in grants management, resource development, or contract compliance, including a successful track record of grant writing and securing funding
Demonstrated excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Demonstrated strong communication skills, including strong public speaking skills
Ability to track multiple projects and manage multiple priorities
Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and good judgment
Knowledge of federal and state grant regulations, including 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) and applicable compliance frameworks for government-funded programs
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication and collaboration with both internal and external partners

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred
experience with grants management or CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, or similar) strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to work in a high-paced environment

Responsibilities

Ensure existing funding opportunities are identified, monitored, capitalized, and maximized.
Develop a pipeline of new funding opportunities (comprised of local and national, nonprofit and government, and grant and contract opportunities).
Lead, influence, or otherwise collaborate with partners to develop strategies and business cases for new opportunities that are aligned with 211 and CIE goals.
Attend cultivation or solicitation of meetings, presentations, and other events.
Attend community and networking events and fundraisers representing 211 San Diego.
Help determine screening criteria, value creation, and rationale for targeting new opportunities.
Work with leadership to develop and execute strategies to identify, assess, prioritize, and execute new business opportunities. This may involve securing and analyzing relevant information, including environmental factors (such as the political landscape, marketplace conditions, government or industry standards, and organizational culture, structure, or governance).
Oversee and manage feasibility and programmatic visioning processes for mid to large-scale opportunities, unless otherwise assigned.
Secure proper authorizations to move the project(s) forward.
Develop new scopes of work in collaboration with program staff and leadership.
Work with fiscal and program staff to develop, prepare, and submit budgets and proposals.
Oversee the fiscal and program compliance for funded programs.
Manage contract and subcontract execution as well as amendments and renewals.
Manage fiscal compliance hand-off.
Oversee program rollout to internal stakeholders.
Manage ongoing high-level funder relationships.
Track grant and contract activities, including stages of potential and secured revenue.
Work with program and fiscal staff to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Provide weekly pipeline updates to fiscal staff and the Chief Business Development Officer.
Oversee Development staff, volunteers, and interns.
