About The Position

EventMobi is seeking a Director of Global Event Marketing to lead their event marketing strategy. This is a player-coach role for a remote-first position open to candidates residing in Canada. The role involves approximately one month of travel per month for events across the US, Canada, and Europe. The ideal candidate is passionate about marketing events and event technology to event professionals, and is eager to grow EventMobi's event team and portfolio. The company emphasizes offering value at every interaction, with in-person events being a key method for educating and engaging the events community and customer base. The Director will own EventMobi's entire events program, including trade shows, sponsorships, and hosted events, managing strategy, budget, messaging, booth, and results. The role offers the opportunity to launch the company's first user conference, starting with local workshops and exclusive dinners. EventMobi is described as a bootstrapped company founded in 2010, focused on sustainable growth without external funding pressures, where every event investment is expected to yield clear returns.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in corporate event marketing at a B2B company.
  • Experience as an exhibitor in the booth, not just an agency or organizer.
  • Managed a high volume of third-party trade shows and sponsored events portfolio.
  • Involved in the planning and execution of a mid-size user conference and exclusive dinner series.
  • Strong Event Tech experience, including registration platforms, lead capture apps, badge printing, and event app builds using competitors' platforms.
  • Familiarity with industry acronyms such as IMEX, MPI, PCMA, CSAE, ASAE.
  • Owned an event budget and can demonstrate event ROI in pipeline and revenue, beyond just badge scans.
  • Ability to write sharp event messaging and copy.
  • Proficiency with HubSpot and attribution tracking, understanding event lead management.
  • Willingness to travel approximately once a month across North America and Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Own the entire story for every trade show: calendar, budget, messaging, pre-show marketing, booth design, shipping, staffing, and on-site execution.
  • Ensure potential buyers know where to find EventMobi and work with Demand Gen and Sales to schedule meetings before events.
  • Act as the event tech expert on the floor, understanding competitor activities and designing activations for differentiation.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for sponsored industry events, managing the give/get agreement, on-site presence, and database growth.
  • Partner with Customer Success to ensure sponsored events are successful, identify potential feature adoption, and gather advocacy wins like case studies and reviews.
  • Determine the purpose of every hosted event (new pipeline or customer relationships) and manage its build: format, agenda, speakers, venue, run of show, and marketing.
  • Utilize the EventMobi platform for all hosted events, as they serve as the best demonstration of the product.
  • Develop local workshops and meetups, growing them into an annual user conference.
  • Maintain a single source of truth for all events, manage projects, vendors, and contracts, and forecast budgets.
  • Provide the VP of Marketing with quarterly recommendations on scaling, maintaining, or cutting events, supported by data on spend, pipeline, and revenue.
