About The Position

This position manages daily financial operations and ensures accurate financial compliance, including government contracts, fiscal monitoring visits, and agency audits. The Director of Finance oversees all budget aspects of government contracts, working with the Chief Financial Officer and Grants & Data Manager to develop budgets for government grant application submissions. They manage the reimbursement process of all agency government contracts, submitting timely and accurate invoices and entering all reimbursement amounts as A/R entries in the accounting system. This role completes ongoing expense analysis and regular forecasting to ensure all possible contract funds are expended. The Director of Finance manages all financial reporting on government contracts, coordinating with other agency staff on HMIS and programmatic reporting as needed. They oversee the financial compliance of all government contracts and work with government entities/partners on financial auditing of contracts, as well as with the agency’s audit partner on A-133 Single Audit. This role coordinates the agency's annual financial statement audit and Form 990 tax return. The Director of Finance remains up to date on contract regulations and legislation regarding allowable expenses. They manage the Agency's insurance policies, including property, liability, auto, Directors & Officers, and workers’ compensation. The Director of Finance oversees all organizational bank accounts, including monitoring balances, managing cash flow, and ensuring proper authorization and security of transactions. They maintain banking relationships and implement controls to safeguard funds and support operational needs. This role reviews and approves journal entries and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, identifying discrepancies and enforcing internal controls ensuring timely, reliable financial reporting. The Director of Finance supports the Finance & Payroll specialist and Staff Accountant with payroll and A/P functions as necessary. They work with the CFO to complete timely reports for the Finance Committee and Board of Directors. Regular attendance and punctuality are required to perform job duties effectively. The Director of Finance performs other duties as requested by the CFO or as dictated by circumstances of growth and/or planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or comparable field.
  • Minimum five years of experience working in grants management, including experience in budget management, expense analysis, and forecasting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Commitment to results with emphasis on accountability.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage towards deadlines.
  • Sense of humor, integrity, impeccable work ethic.
  • Knowledge of Office 365, particularly Excel.
