About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Controller with a proven track record in managing the finances of a legal practice. The controller will assist with maintaining accurate and timely financial systems and records of the firm. The controller will develop, improve and or maintain the financial systems to provide proper administrative structure and leadership to the firm's management team of a 50-person firm. Responsibilities would include supervision and training of the other accounting and administrative staff within the department.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, minimum of 5 years of experience as a controller in a law firm environment
• Deep understanding of law firm billing practices, time keeping, trust accounting and case litigation management systems.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online required
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting

Nice To Haves

• experience with other legal accounting software Elite, Aderant, ProLaw or similar a plus

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and payroll
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards
• Coordinate and prepare for audits
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
• Partner with firm leadership on financial strategy and planning
