SoCal JCB - Director of Finance & Accounting
About The Position
The Director of Finance and Accounting is a full-time, on-site role based in La Mirada, CA or Colton, CA. This role oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and the preparation and analysis of financial statements. Responsibilities include managing accounting processes, month-end and year-end close, cash flow monitoring, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies. The director will lead and develop the finance, accounting, and administrative team, collaborate with leadership on strategic financial planning, and provide data-driven insights to support operational decisions. The role also involves working with external auditors and vendors, refining internal controls, and implementing process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and financial transparency.
Requirements
- Strong finance and accounting expertise, including Finance, Financial Planning, and Financial Reporting skills.
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing Financial Statements, with solid Analytical Skills to interpret results and trends.
- Experience managing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and general ledger activities in a corporate or dealership environment.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a finance and accounting team, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Advanced skills with accounting and ERP software, along with Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools.
- Must pass any drug screens, background checks, and any pre-employment tests, which will be conducted in accordance with applicable law.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in construction equipment, automotive, or similar dealership or distribution environments is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or similar certification is preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements; experience coordinating external audits is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a high-stress environment.
- Detail-oriented and able to work independently.
- Collaborative approach to resolving issues impacting various groups across the enterprise.
- Ability to understand processes (system and non-system), troubleshoot, develop, and recommend solutions.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Microsoft Project.
Responsibilities
- Own monthly close and ensure accurate, timely P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, branch and departmental reporting.
- Maintain strong accounting controls and GAAP compliance.
- Manage cash forecasting, AR/AP, floorplan balances, borrowing availability, and working capital.
- Pay particular attention to cash tied up in new/used equipment and parts.
- Maintain accurate inventory and floorplan reconciliations while actively reporting on aging, turns, carrying costs, curtailments, interest expense, and problem inventory.
- Work with Sales leadership to drive action on aged assets.
- Lead the annual budget and rolling forecast and provide management with actionable analysis of gross margin, departmental profitability, branch performance, service absorption, SG&A, EBITDA, and budget-to-actual variances.
- Lead the accounting department, including AR, AP, payroll/accounting, inventory accounting, reconciliations, tax/audit support, policies, processes, and internal controls.
- Establish clear deadlines, accountability, and standardized processes across locations.
