About The Position

The Director of Facilities is responsible for the overall management of the Center’s physical facilities, including maintenance management, building mechanical systems, housekeeping and facility/renovation, capital planning and related projects. This role will be responsible to enhance and maintain the overall look, feel, cleanliness and continuity of décor throughout the Center’s facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant industry
  • Ten plus years of experience managing a comprehensive facility or similar experience
  • Understanding and experience with building systems including HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, Sprinklers, Life/Safety
  • Five years team management and senior leadership
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with, or strong knowledge of military culture and Veteran population
  • Strong leadership, managerial and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with all building facility systems
  • Strong ability to collaborate with team, other internal programs and departments and external partners, contractors or other officials
  • Walk nine flights of stairs and roof top areas.
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, use fine-finger manipulation, and perceive depth
  • Lift or move 50 pounds
  • Be familiar with all power tools and adhere to OSHA safety regulations
  • Possess computer skills sufficient for appropriate record keeping and communication

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall facility maintenance for primary location in Boston and multiple properties in Merrimack Valley. Properties include residential, administrative, and supportive housing program spaces.
  • Ability to evaluate infrastructure needs and develop corresponding capital budgets.
  • Lead, direct, guide, mentor, and train Facility and Housekeeping personnel
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the maintenance and housekeeping teams; promoting a collegial collaborative team culture focused on continuous improvement and customer service
  • Oversee all preventative and emergency maintenance of facility and equipment, including HVAC, elevators, life/safety equipment, and other appropriate equipment
  • Implement strategies for continuous improvement of Center infrastructure and systems
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to the building facility systems
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance plan for all building systems and equipment
  • Oversee the management of electronic maintenance software to include work order request, preventative maintenance schedules, permits, licensing (e.g. elevators, kitchen, occupancy, fire, etc.) process of other electronic documents (Docusign / Paycom) as required to fulfill responsibilities
  • Ensure building facility complies with all Federal, State and local laws, including local inspectional codes and regulations
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations regarding safety and security issues.
  • Work closely with Finance and Property Management on related property items
  • Other duties as may be assigned and requested
