About The Position

The Director of Facilities Operations provides leadership and direction of essential facility maintenance, grounds and in-house construction services. The Director will be responsible for prioritizing needed repairs and renovations, assisting in the management and development of departmental budgets as well as guiding personnel related issues and staff development. Additionally, the Director will ensuring compliance with health, life safety, and building codes. Along with directing daily facility operations at Loyola University Medical Center or the Community Hospitals this position will work directly with regional BAS Coordinator on operational improvements to mechanical systems which will garner energy savings as well as operational efficiencies with staff. Additionally, this position will work collaboratively with the facilities leadership team to consolidate contracted services and perform PDC project oversight. As a key leader within Facilities Management, you’ll help drive operational excellence across Loyola University Health System (LUHS). In this role, you will partner with leadership to ensure our facilities are safe, efficient, and aligned to support exceptional patient and caregiver experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience required
  • 5+ years of leadership/management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 6–10 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM)
  • Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and align multiple Facilities Management functions to deliver seamless, efficient, and non-duplicative services that support LUHS’s mission.
  • Help develop and implement policies and procedures that foster a strong, responsive service culture for colleagues, physicians, and faculty.
  • Maintain all LUHS facilities to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational performance.
  • Conduct facility audits to assess building conditions, ensuring compliance with life safety and regulatory standards, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support capital planning by analyzing facility data, prioritizing repairs and renovations, and evaluating impacts to mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Oversee the call center function, ensuring timely and effective responses to emergency and routine service requests.
  • Maintain and optimize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), using data and reporting to improve productivity, service levels, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee central stores, tools, equipment, IT coordination, lock shop, and key control to ensure operational readiness.
  • Assist in developing contingency and response plans to maintain operations during emergencies, including coordination with external partners.
  • Implement proactive maintenance and asset replacement strategies to maximize reliability and extend the life of critical infrastructure.
