Director of Engineering, Data

Allara•New York, NY

About The Position

Allara is hiring its first Director of Data to build the foundation for how the company collects, models, governs, and uses data. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this is a hands-on leadership role: initially, the director will work directly on ETL pipelines, consolidate duplicated logic, and address gaps in source data. Over time, the director will define the company’s data strategy, establish standards, and grow the data function as Allara scales. The role is a player-coach position, with hands-on pipeline work taking priority at the outset. The role may be performed remotely within the U.S. or in a three-day-per-week hybrid arrangement in the New York City office. Allara values in-person collaboration while allowing flexibility as needed. The director will make company data trustworthy and traceable, establish a reliable source of truth, and develop a data strategy that supports the company’s growth, including AI-assisted analysis and the use of health data to improve outcomes. They will build the data engineering function over time and partner with Product, Growth, Finance, Strategy, and Clinical teams as owner of the shared data platform and standards. Allara is a women’s health provider offering longitudinal care through multidisciplinary teams, supporting patients with hormonal and metabolic conditions and across life stages. Its work focuses on improving access to expert healthcare and health outcomes for women.
