About The Position

Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, a 5-star rated facility, is seeking a Director of Dietary Services to lead their dining operations. The center has been providing compassionate care to older adults since 1943 and emphasizes a supportive environment and a mission of kind, patient, and compassionate care. The Dietary Director will oversee meal preparation, guide the kitchen team, and ensure the highest standards of culinary and operational excellence. The facility actively trains, supports, and develops team members, with opportunities for internal promotion.

Requirements

  • CDM, CNS or CFM certification required. ServSafe required.
  • 2 years’ experience in a long-term care/rehabilitation environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Budgeting experience, computer skills.
  • A passion for food, including the preparation and delivery of well-made meals.
  • A positive, upbeat attitude and the ability to cooperate with others in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong and courteous customer service skills, to work within a diverse workforce while providing that service to our residents, family members, vendors, and coworkers.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Dietary Team – fostering a caring culture of culinary and operational excellence, teamwork and growth.
  • Following all sanitary regulations as established by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, to ensure that the meals are not only appealing to see and to eat but have been safely prepared.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, food handling standards and relevant licensing requirements. Adhering to all sanitation and food production codes.
  • Following our residents’ individualized meal plans by using specialized recipes to adhere to any diet restrictions and ensuring all items are present for meal service.
  • Collaboration with our Dietitian to ensure therapeutic diets and nutritional needs of our residents are met.
  • Under the instructions of our Administrator, manage the food service budget, ensuring cost-effective practices while maintaining quality standards.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with food suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely and quality delivery of food and kitchen supplies. Ordering, storage and rotation of food items.
