About The Position

JRI’s Developing Abilities programs provide comprehensive support for individuals with developmental disabilities, offering services that promote independence, skill development, and community integration. The Director of Day Habilitation and Employment Services will oversee Day Habilitation and Employment Day Services and Transportation Services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our residential programs create safe, supportive living environments where individuals receive personalized care and assistance tailored to their unique needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field or at least two years of administrative and supervisory experience in health care management.
  • Minimum of three years of direct service experience with persons with developmental disabilities.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with other public and private agencies is required.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to lead people and projects.
  • MAP, First Aid, CPR certification and certification in non-violent crisis intervention and prevention techniques.
  • Maintains valid driver’s license and ability to drive consumers in agency vehicles and own a vehicle if necessary.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the JRI Developing Abilities day habilitation, employment, and related transportation services.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff involved in day habilitation, employment, and transportation services.
  • Oversee and implement operational systems for day habilitation, employment, and related transportation services, including recruitment, hiring, training, human resources, quality, nursing, clinical, and administrative/fiscal functions.
  • Monitor the use of contracted services and temporary staff.
  • Organize resources, and monitor ongoing activities to ensure appropriate delivery of services and quality care in safe environments, supported by adequate staffing, clinical, administrative, and technical resources.
  • Ensure adequate staffing resources, support, and backup are available for each program, maintaining effective communication during emergencies or unusual events.
  • Implement trauma-informed, strength-based positive behavior support practices in alignment with program guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Provide after-hours on-call coverage for services.
  • Ensure best practices through systems that promote data-informed efforts and continuous quality improvement in services, including DDS, CARF, and MassHealth licensing, certification, and accreditation systems.
  • Develop an annual comprehensive statement outlining your program's goals and objectives, ensuring integration with the current JRI strategic plan while addressing specific program and client needs.
  • Engage in JRI Developing Abilities Administrative Team (Ad Team), Risk Management activities, and Safety Committee activities.
  • Manage program budgets, expenditure plans, fiscal controls, and billing systems to ensure effective service levels and resource provision within regulatory or contractual requirements and service allocations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
