About The Position

Bay Cove Human Services’ mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts. The Director provides for administrative, clinical and program operations of developmental disability programs. This is an exempt position.

Requirements

  • B.A. degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services or a related field, plus at least five years experience in the administration of programs serving adults with long term mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Use of personal cellular telephone for work communication.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision to Day Habilitation Service Managers and Day Habilitation Nurse.
  • Coordinates clinical, personnel and routine management concerns in Day Habilitation.
  • Conducts program planning and development activities.
  • Evaluates work performance of supervisees as specified by agency personnel policies and standards of clinical practice in addictions, behavior management, psychiatric, treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Ensures the development and implementation of treatment/rehabilitation in Day Habilitation.
  • Ensures that services are culturally sensitive and responsive.
  • Ensures that services are provided in a manner that optimizes client independence and recovery.
  • Develop and monitor all administrative, programmatic and clinical services for Day Habilitation.
  • Assists in the development of in-service trainings for all division staff in cooperation with other Senior Program Directors, Director of Day Services and the VP of DD Services.
  • Reviews all Day Habilitation and RN schedules, assignments and records in a periodic, systematic manner. Ensure daily staff coverage meet staffing ratio requirements.
  • Supervise and Maintain communication with program consultants including PT, OT, SLP, BT.
  • Conducts annual Program Self-Evaluations per Division standards and meets all requirements of the agency’s Quality Management Program.
  • Provides emergency back-up to program staff on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Participates in inter agency committees and information sharing meetings.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with relevant state agency staff (i.e. natural service area, and DPH and licensing) in a positive and professional manner.
  • Attends meetings with state agencies as requested by the Director of Day Services or VP of DD Services.
  • Ensures compliance with DDS/DPH Regulations.
  • Ensures that programs are in compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws.
  • Oversees the hiring and termination of direct care staff.
  • Supervises and supports and RN, DSs, GALs, through weekly meetings, regular site visits and phone contact as needed.
  • Serve as Day Hab Service Manager (Medicaid regulatory title).
  • Supervise and train assigned program staff to develop and use skills including therapeutic supports, curriculum development, leading program activities, reporting, data collection, and implementation of Day Habilitation Service Plan goals and objectives; schedule staff for out of program training as needed to meet training needs.
  • Provide training and supervision to Developmental Specialists to ensure the documentation of data collection, completion of monthly progress notes, and maintenance of participant records.
  • Conduct and document quarterly reviews of Day Habilitation Service Plans with interdisciplinary team.
  • Develop and implement daily activity schedules for the program that provide teaching and skills training in accordance with objectives and goals set forth in the Day Habilitation Service Plans and ensure compliance with Day Hab regulations.
  • Manage referral and admissions for assigned groups within program, including completion of pre-admission documentation, setting up records, conduct and submission of Severity profile.
  • Perform assessments of development and functional skills of Day Hab program participants.
  • Facilitate meetings with program participants to develop DHSP goals and objectives and promote the development of self-determination and decision-making skills.
  • Provide leadership as a member of the Day Hab management team.
  • Conduct service plan meetings.
  • Lead team meetings including interdisciplinary meetings, manager meeting, all staff meetings, etc.
  • Document meeting minutes and supervision.
  • Perform operations duties as assigned, including ordering supplies; quality management reviews of records; preparation of billing from attendance records.
  • Perform direct care duties as needed to ensure staffing ratios and physical needs for program participants are met.
  • Ensure that clients’ rights are fully respected, and that they are consistently treated respectfully, in a way that enhances their personal control over services provided by the program on their behalf, and that supports clients’ taking control and responsibility for their own development and mastery of skills to live as independently as possible.
  • Develop tools to record data and supervise the recording of data to measure progress towards objectives; assist in the development of forms and reporting to ensure program compliance with funding source and agency requirements.
  • Maintain good working relationships with representatives of funding sources, including representing Bay Cove and the program at official meetings with funders and other providers.
  • Maintain good working relationships with collaborating programs both within and outside of the Center House/Bay Cove Human Services network, including MR/DD residential services.
