About The Position

The Director of Community Life develops, organizes, and coordinates facility and community resources to provide comprehensive wellness, recreation, and activity services that meet each tenant’s needs and interests. The role provides an ongoing community life program designed around tenants’ interests and preferences and their physical, social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, vocational, and environmental well-being. The position is based at Valora Orono, a 72-unit apartment-style senior living community in Orono, Minnesota, offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a rotating Manager-on-Duty weekend assignment. The program includes activities on a daily basis, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

Professional experience in health care of at least 2 years.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Provide a daily Community Life program, including activities during evenings and weekends.
Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies, and keep them accessible through organized storage.
Conduct, attend, and participate in orientation, training, in-service education, and staff meetings as assigned to maintain compliance.
Communicate programs and develop positive relationships with tenants, families, and volunteers.
Train and motivate others while serving as a role model and mentor.
Foster family and community support through newsletters, networking, and activities that bring family members and community members into the building.
Participate in care conferences, QAPI, and department head meetings to support or improve quality of life and quality of care.
