About The Position

The Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown Union Station is seeking a dynamic and experienced hospitality professional to join our leadership team as Director of Catering. This department head position is responsible for overseeing all catering operations, leading and developing the catering team, and driving revenue through the successful solicitation, booking, and execution of banquet and catering events. The Director of Catering will play a key role in maximizing hotel revenue and profitability by strategically managing meeting and event space, achieving targeted sales goals, and ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction. Responsibilities include training, mentoring, and supervising catering staff; developing and executing sales strategies; conducting hotel site inspections; and cultivating strong client relationships to secure new and repeat business.

Requirements

  • Three to five years hotel catering sales experience required.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, well-organized, goal-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all catering operations.
  • Lead and develop the catering team.
  • Drive revenue through solicitation, booking, and execution of banquet and catering events.
  • Maximize hotel revenue and profitability by strategically managing meeting and event space.
  • Achieve targeted sales goals.
  • Ensure exceptional guest satisfaction.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise catering staff.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies.
  • Conduct hotel site inspections.
  • Cultivate strong client relationships to secure new and repeat business.
  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communication.
  • Develop and implement sales strategy for the assigned market and complete quarterly action plans.
  • Prepare, implement, and compile data for strategic sales plan, quarterly SMART plans for the Catering team, annual banquet budget, weekly forecasts, and other reports.
  • Recruit, direct, manage, train, and counsel catering sales and convention services staff.
  • Actively participate in catering sales presentations, property tours, and customer meetings.
  • Participate in BEO, Resume, sales department meetings, and management meetings.
  • Assist Director of Sales with special projects as needed.
  • Perform all other duties/tasks assigned by the supervisor/manager.
