About The Position

This is a grant-funded position. The Director of Carroll County Community Mediation Center directs, develops, supervises, and administers the Community Mediation Center and Community Conferencing of Carroll County and is responsible for creating programs and services to meet the diverse needs of the community and the College. This position contributes to the ongoing development of the Center’s role in on-campus mediation and educational outreach in the academic and Workforce, Business, and Community Education areas.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • 40-hour mediation training in Maryland, preferably Community Mediation, Maryland’s 50-hour training and experience mediating.
  • Experience with grant writing and reporting.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in the alternative dispute resolution field.
  • Experience providing mediation and conflict resolution training and experience as a mediator.
  • Proven program management and organizational skills, creative problem-solving skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be positive, cooperative, collaborative and supportive.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license and be able to travel to mediation and partner sites.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends based upon mediation participant needs.
  • Successfully complete a criminal background check.
  • Be able to work on campus as of the first day of employment.
  • Residency restrictions apply. Carroll employees may live in other states, but they must physically work in Maryland the majority of the time. For income tax obligations, employees must be a resident of DC, VA, WV, MD, or PA on the date employment commences.
  • Willing to come to campus for identity verification within 3 business days of hire date.
  • Currently authorized to work in the US, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorships.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, develops and manages center programs and activities.
  • Develops, updates, and revises program policies.
  • Provides mediation, conflict resolution, restorative justice, and diversity training to the community and to the College.
  • Creates and maintains collaborative working relationships with community referral agencies and with the college community.
  • Produces an annual report of the center’s activities and prepares required reports for MACRO, Community Mediation Maryland, and the Department of Juvenile and Family Services.
  • Researches and writes grants for funding support and seeks community-funding support.
  • Works with the Academic, Student Affairs, and Workforce, Business, and Community Education areas to educate students and community members about conflict resolution, mediation, conflict coaching, and restorative justice.
  • Manages workflow, sets goals, hires, trains, evaluates performance, provides feedback, creates/maintains schedules, signs off on time/attendance, helps to resolve employee issues/discipline.
  • Works closely with potential referral sources on campus such as Student Affairs, Advising, Human Resources and the Student Government Association.
  • Provides intensive skills-based training, internships, continuing education, and on-going evaluation of volunteer mediators and conference facilitators.
  • Organizes and participates in community outreach activities to promote the services of the CCCMC and to increase case referrals.
  • Manages the CCCMC budget.
  • Establishes and oversees the CCCMC and CCOCC website.
  • Forms a CCCMC and CCOCC Advisory Boards and convenes regular meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
