About The Position

The Director of Business Intelligence is responsible for leading Summit’s data strategy and ensuring that data is effectively utilized to drive business decisions. This role will lead the development of and execution of data-driven strategies, provide guidance on data management and analytics best practices, and oversee the design, implementation and measurement of data-related initiatives that support Summit’s goals and objectives. This role serves leading Summit’s enterprise business intelligence and analytics delivery. This role partners with IT and data engineering on the enterprise data platform roadmap, turning curated data into trusted reporting and self-service analytics for finance, operations, and clinical leaders. This role also serves as the product owner for the Power BI platform, ensuring it delivers trusted, scalable, and actionable insights across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Analytics or a related field required.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data‑driven roles required.
  • Deep, hands‑on expertise in Power BI, including ownership of enterprise Power BI environments
  • Proven experience owning and scaling a Power BI platform in a medium to large organization.
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with modern data warehouses.
  • Proficiency in data solution architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Healthcare analytics experience required, including direct work with EHR data (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar), claims data, revenue cycle metrics, or clinical quality reporting.
  • Working fluency in SQL, DAX, and Python sufficient to review team output, prototype solutions, and diagnose data issues.
  • Extensive experience communicating and collaborating with executive team across all functions of organization and ability to communicate complex data insights to executive and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Three or more years’ supervisory/management experience required, preferably in healthcare.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Background partnering closely with FP&A or enterprise performance management teams preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) or Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with executive leadership, finance, operations, and technology teams to transform data into business value to drive decision‑making, performance management, and strategic outcomes.
  • Defines and executes the enterprise Business Intelligence strategy, with full ownership of the Power BI ecosystem as a core analytics platform.
  • Oversees delivery of executive dashboards, KPIs, and scorecards built primarily in Power BI across financial, operational, and strategic domains.
  • Acts as the executive owner of Power BI, setting the vision for how dashboards, reports, and self‑service analytics support business priorities.
  • Partners with IT on the enterprise data platform roadmap, representing analytics and reporting requirements in prioritization, data modeling, and semantic layer decisions.
  • Ensures accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of enterprise reporting using centralized and certified datasets.
  • Acts as the primary liaison with IT on Power BI infrastructure, integrations, and roadmap enhancements.
  • Ensures Power BI reports and datasets adhere to data governance, security, and HIPAA compliance requirements, including appropriate PHI access controls, row-level security, workspace segregation, and audit practices.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders to ensure data initiatives are aligned with business needs and priorities.
  • Fosters a data-driven culture across organization, promotes data literacy, and pushes data-driven decision-making.
  • Identifies and prioritizes issues of importance, including those priority issues as set by leadership.
  • Collaborates with department leaders and corporate executive leaders, as needed.
  • Serves as a trusted analytics advisor to senior leadership, translating complex data into clear, actionable business insights.
  • Communicates instructions, expectations and timelines clearly and concisely.
  • Maintains accountability expectations in all areas of job performance.
