About The Position

The BridgeWay has been connecting with communities throughout Arkansas and beyond for over 40 years, offering a continuum of services designed to help children, adolescents, and adults experiencing behavioral, emotional, or addictive problems. Our team of professionals includes board-certified child/adolescent and adult psychiatrists, licensed clinical therapists, nurses, and mental health associates dedicated to helping individuals reconnect with their families, friends, and employers to lead productive lives. Located in Central Arkansas, our campus, founded in 1983 and accredited by The Joint Commission, retains its original charm. The Director of Assessment and Referral directs, implements, and coordinates the referral and admissions process, ensuring smooth admissions into the hospital. This role involves receiving inquiry calls, assessing patients for admission, making appropriate referrals, and supervising the Assessment and Referral department. The Director collaborates with the leadership team to ensure outstanding customer service and quality care, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission standards, CMS, state health department, and all other regulatory standards. Business development activities are also part of the role as needed.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field required.
  • Current CPR and Handle with Care (HWC) certifications, or must obtain within three (3) weeks of date of hire.
  • Ability to assess the physical, emotion, and psychological needs of patients.
  • Ability to determine suitability of admission to the hospital based on clinical and financial criteria.
  • Ability to prioritize and assign tasks and hold staff responsible for their completion.
  • Ability to utilize computer generated reports to analyze data and make decisions.
  • Ability to make independent and responsible decisions.
  • Good knowledge of admitting and insurance verification.
  • Must have ability to work in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required to communicate with patients, families, referral sources, community agencies, and staff.
  • Knowledge of telephone etiquette is required.
  • Must be able to interact with patients, physicians, families and hospital personnel in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Work is of medium demand, requiring heavy telephone and personal contact with patients, employees, referral sources, community agencies, and insurance companies.

Nice To Haves

  • License counselor, therapist or registered nurse preferred.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, implements, and coordinates the referral and admissions process, assuring smooth and orderly admissions into the hospital.
  • Receives incoming inquiry calls, assesses patients for admission, and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Supervises and provides direction to the Assessment and Referral department.
  • Works with other members of the leadership team to ensure outstanding customer service and quality care.
  • Ensures compliance for quality patient care and compliance with Joint Commission standards, CMS, state health department and all other regulatory standards.
  • Participates in business development activities as needed.
