About The Position

The Director of Ancillary Services is a senior operational leader responsible for the strategic direction, financial performance, and operational excellence of all ancillary service lines, including Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Interventional Radiology (IR), PET/CT, Imaging and Diagnostics (IOD), and Laboratory Services. This role carries full P&L accountability and is expected to drive utilization, throughput, and sustainable growth across service lines while ensuring patient-centered, high-quality care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, with direct experience overseeing ancillary service lines, multispecialty physician practices, or oncology programs.
  • Demonstrated success in P&L management and driving both financial and operational performance.
  • Proven track record in launching, scaling, and optimizing new service lines or clinical programs.
  • Experience working with physicians, external partners, and vendors in collaborative, growth-oriented relationships.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory, compliance, and accreditation requirements within healthcare operations.
  • Exceptional skills in strategic planning, program development, and change management.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team leadership abilities.
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional patient and physician customer service, with a focus on enhancing the overall care experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of ancillary services operations, healthcare compliance, and medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated strength in strategic leadership, operational problem-solving, and building high-performing teams.
  • Skilled in executive-level communication, with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal abilities to collaborate across clinical, business, and administrative teams.
  • Proficient in leveraging healthcare technology platforms, data systems, and operational software to drive efficiency and performance.
  • Strong financial acumen with advanced analytical skills to support budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities and leading teams in a fast-paced, high-volume healthcare environment.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies, workflows, and process improvements to optimize ancillary service lines.
  • High-speed, reliable internet connection to ensure uninterrupted communication and access to necessary systems and tools.
  • Quiet and private work environment to maintain the confidentiality of patient information and minimize background noise during calls.
  • Proficiency in using remote collaboration tools, such as video conferencing software, instant messaging platforms, and customer relationship management systems.
  • Compliance with all security and privacy policies and protocols, including safeguarding patient information and maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full P&L oversight across all ancillary service lines, ensuring financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and clinical quality.
  • Lead the strategic planning, business case development, and execution of de novo programs and expansions across multiple ancillary disciplines.
  • Drive service line utilization, throughput, and ramp speed to meet growth and patient access goals.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to align ancillary services with overall organizational strategy.
  • Lead the successful launch, integration, and/or drive outcomes of: PET/CT services, Radiopharmacy program, Clinical Research program, Pharmaceutical program, Lab program.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan including staffing models, resource allocation, and patient access strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinic & Physician Operations to design and roll out Nurse Navigation programs to improve care coordination and patient outcomes.
  • Partner with USPI to optimize ASC utilization and throughput, ensuring efficient scheduling and resource alignment.
  • Build strong physician partnerships to drive service line adoption, ensure alignment on clinical pathways, and support research and innovation initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between executive leadership, physician leadership, and service line teams to ensure alignment on operational goals and priorities.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for each service line, with a focus on efficiency, quality, compliance, and patient experience.
  • Implement standardized workflows, policies, and best practices across ancillary programs.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all ancillary service lines, including state, federal, and accreditation standards.
  • Oversee staffing models, workforce development, and leadership succession planning to ensure long-term sustainability of service lines.
  • Stay current on industry trends, innovations, and best practices to inform program development and growth strategies.
