Director, Marketing Operations & Technology

VTSNew York, NY
$150,000 - $190,000Hybrid

About The Position

Business Operations at VTS collaborates with Marketing as the technical and operational backbone of a go-to-market engine running two motions simultaneously — an AI-native, signal-driven model and a traditional demand generation program. These will work together with the traditional stack being the infrastructural underpinning of AI Tooling. The Director of Marketing Operations & Technology owns the platforms, systems, and processes that power our pre-sale funnel from first touch through qualified pipeline, for both new and existing clients. This is not a strategy-and-slides role. You will be the most platform-fluent person in the room on anything touching the marketing stack — expected to go hands-on, troubleshoot without a ticket, and build without a consultant. Please note that this opportunity is located in New York, NY, and requires this hire to work from our office 4 days a week. About the Role You'll sit on the Business Operations team and partner daily with two distinct marketing organizations: a traditional demand generation and content team, and an AI-focused GTM team running signal-based outreach, intent enrichment, and automated engagement workflows. You need to be conversant in both — understanding the cadences, tooling, and success metrics of each — and building systems that serve them without creating two separate stacks. You'll work closely with the Salesforce Architecture team on anything touching the CRM, but your primary domain is the pre-sale funnel — lead capture, enrichment, scoring, routing, engagement, and conversion reporting. You'll also partner with the Analytics and Data Engineering teams, handing off requirements clearly enough that they can build what you can describe.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in marketing operations, revenue operations, or a closely related function at a B2B SaaS company, with 2+ years in a senior IC or leadership role.
  • Expert-level MAP (Marketo, Hubspot etc) administration — owned the MAP, architected programs, managed the database, and built the Salesforce integration.
  • Hands-on experience administering sales engagement platforms — Outreach, Gong Engage, or equivalent — with a clear understanding of how engagement data connects to pipeline.
  • Experience with meeting routing tools (ChiliPiper or equivalent) including routing logic, SLA configuration, and CRM activity logging.
  • Fluent in Salesforce as a marketing operations practitioner — understand the data model, can build reports and dashboards, and can partner with the Salesforce team without needing one to translate.
  • Experience with AI-native GTM tooling — Qualified, Clay, or similar — and genuine curiosity about where signal-based marketing is heading. Have built something with these tools, not just evaluated them.
  • Able to produce funnel and campaign reporting natively in Marketo and Salesforce, and can frame data requirements clearly for analytics and engineering teams when deeper work is needed.
  • Comfortable operating across both an AI-driven GTM motion and a traditional demand generation model — have worked in orgs running both and know how to serve each without creating chaos.
  • Pick things up fast, figure things out, and don't wait for someone else to build what the team needs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Marketing Automation Platform: program architecture, lead lifecycle and scoring models, database health, segmentation, and integration with Salesforce. Administer a MAP at this depth before and can build, troubleshoot, and optimize without outside help. Evaluate and absorb new platforms as the stack evolves.
  • Administer and optimize Sales Engagement tools (eg Gong Engage / Outreach) for pre-sale sequences and engagement — ensuring tools are properly configured, adoption is high, and activity data flows cleanly back into Salesforce. Understand the relationship between engagement tooling and pipeline data and hold the standard on both with an eye on end user simplicity and understanding.
  • Own meeting platforms from form submission through booked meeting — routing logic, SLA enforcement, rep assignment rules, and CRM activity logging. Ensure no lead falls through a routing gap and that every conversion event is captured correctly downstream.
  • Lead the operationalization of AI-driven GTM tooling — conversational marketing via Qualified, signal-based enrichment and outreach workflows via Clay, and any emerging tools the GTM team brings forward. Know how to stand up an MVP, run a real test, and scale what works — and have a point of view on where this space is heading.
  • Partner with marketing and web teams on form strategy, lead capture tooling, and the handoff from web behavior to CRM. Ensure no signal is lost between the website and the funnel — every form submission, intent signal, and chat conversion lands in the right place with the right data attached.
  • Build and maintain in-platform reporting across Marketo and Salesforce that gives marketing leadership real visibility into campaign performance, funnel conversion rates, lead quality, and attribution. Produce this reporting yourself — and when analysis needs to go deeper, frame data requirements clearly for analytics and engineering teams.
  • Work closely with the Salesforce Architecture team on anything touching the pre-sale funnel — lead and contact object health, campaign member data, lead-to-opportunity conversion logic, and CRM reporting. Hold your own in the conversation and don't need an admin to translate.
