About The Position

The Director of Laboratory Services at Immanuel Medical Center directs and oversees the 24-hour operations of the clinical laboratory to meet organizational needs and comply with federal and state requirements. Directors may be assigned responsibility for multiple sites or departments. Directs, plans, organizes and implements strategies, and initiatives to enhance and support the operations of the clinical laboratories to ensure high quality, efficient, and cost-effective operations. Directs and oversees laboratory specimen collection, specimen processing, on-site, point of care, and send-out testing services. Collaborates with facility administrative and clinical leadership in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures, programs, and initiatives that support the mission, growth and success of the institution. Provides direction to department personnel to achieve operational and technical objectives including workflow design, service quality, financial performance, regulatory compliance, personnel management, patient satisfaction, and employee engagement. Responsible for the overall administration of all laboratory operations. Monitors employee and departmental performance to ensure adherence to policies and procedures, timelines and regulatory requirements Stays current on lab tech and methods; ensures swift and ongoing compliance with all regulatory (federal, state) changes. Develops, implements, and ensures adherence to policies and procedures. Designs and manages quality monitoring systems, initiating and tracking corrective actions; evaluates systems and swiftly resolves quality/service concerns. Oversees equipment maintenance, procurement, and standards. Manages and develops staff through direction, evaluation, coaching, training, and delegation; fosters open communication. Recruits staff, manages staffing levels and productivity, and ensures complete training documentation. Implements lab policies based on national/regulatory standards; represents the hospital on committees and participates in national lab efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science-Biological or Chemical Sciences as defined by CLIA
  • Min 3 years of leadership exp
