About The Position

This is a strategic transformation role within ABB’s NEMA International division, reporting to the EVP International Sales and contributing globally to the Motion NEMA Motors division. The Director will build a scalable international business platform by strengthening alignment across Regions, Business Lines, and functions, removing structural barriers to growth, and implementing the Stabilize-Optimize-Scale roadmap. The role combines strategy execution, operating-model redesign, business process management, change leadership, and executive influence in a complex global matrix. The work model is hybrid, with approximately 30–40% international travel required.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in business transformation, strategy execution, operating-model design, commercial excellence, enterprise program leadership, or management consulting.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Strategy, Operations, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in an internal strategy, transformation, business excellence, or consulting role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional transformation across multiple geographies or business units.
  • Ability to align senior stakeholders and functions behind a shared agenda without relying on direct authority.
  • Experience translating strategy into executable roadmaps, governance, operating mechanisms, and measurable outcomes.

  • Excellent executive communication, facilitation, and synthesis skills.
  • Ability to constructively challenge established practices and navigate ambiguity with pace and judgment.

  • Integrate NEMA International with Global Business Lines by establishing governance and cross-functional commitments that align product, portfolio, and investment priorities with international market requirements, and escalating growth-constraining dependencies.
  • Lead efforts to resolve systemic barriers at the interfaces between International Sales, Global Operations, IT, Finance, HR, and other supporting functions, translating fragmented issues into accountable root-cause initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Serve as custodian of the NEMA International target operating model, ensuring organizational accountabilities, governance, processes, technology, and capabilities develop coherently to support profitable growth, stabilization, optimization, scale, and future growth and acquisitions.
  • Lead an executive-level International Transformation Office overseeing the transformation portfolio, governance cadence, dependencies, and risk escalation; mobilize cross-functional workstreams and address ownership gaps, resource constraints, and delayed decisions.
  • Lead adoption of the new international organization and ways of working through change leadership, stakeholder engagement, and capability building.
