Director, Information Technology

Campaign Legal Center•Washington, DC

About The Position

Campaign Legal Center (CLC) is seeking its first Director of Information Technology to set technology strategy in consultation with organizational leadership and be accountable for the systems, data, security, and technology outcomes that support CLC. This is a hands-on leadership role spanning technology planning and governance, business systems, infrastructure, vendor relationships, cybersecurity, risk, compliance, and digital transformation. The Director will own CLC’s technology ecosystem end to end, including purchasing decisions, integrations, costs, security, and the realization of organizational benefits. CLC delivers technology through a hybrid model of cloud platforms, a managed service provider, and specialist consultants. The Director will report to the Vice President, Operations and Finance and manage the full-time IT administrator. The role requires translating technical matters for non-technical audiences while also engaging directly in technical problem-solving, such as resolving system integrations with vendors. The Director will develop a multi-year technology roadmap and oversee budgets, projects, enterprise business systems, data governance, infrastructure, vendors, service delivery, and staff technology support. The Director will also lead CLC’s information security program, establish cybersecurity governance and risk practices, protect sensitive information, and coordinate compliance-related work with organizational teams and external partners. The Director will identify opportunities to automate processes and improve digital experiences, evaluate emerging technologies including AI, and establish appropriate security, privacy, and organizational controls. The role also owns IT policies and standards, supports adoption and change management, and advises leadership on technology platforms, consolidation, and vendor risk. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience, along with 12 or more years of progressive IT experience and at least five years in IT leadership or management. CLC prefers experience in a nonprofit, professional society, or membership organization; relevant professional certifications; and experience developing or applying AI policies or evaluating AI-enabled tools. The salary range is $161,300–$233,900, with placement commensurate with experience. CLC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance; retirement matching; paid leave; professional development support; and other benefits.
