About The Position

The Director, Industrial Systems Engineering & Business Development is responsible for creating and owning system-level offerings across power generation, power conversion and energy storage for industrial data center and critical infrastructure applications and drive technical business development. This role combines deep systems engineering leadership with strong commercial acumen to shape BorgWarner’s integrated solutions strategy, develop customer and partner engagement, and accelerate growth in the data center and industrial power ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data center power ecosystems, including UPS, BBU, microgrids, and/or BESS.
  • Proven experience owning system requirements and interfaces end-to end, from solution architecture through systems engineering execution.
  • Strong understanding of power generation, power conversion, and energy storage technologies and their integration into complex electrical systems.
  • Commercially savvy mindset with experience in value-based selling, strategic partnerships, and roadmap definition.
  • Ability to operate effectively across functions and business units, influencing without authority in a global organization.

Responsibilities

  • System architecture & application engineering: Own and develop system-level reference architectures and integrated solutions for data centers and industrial power systems, including rack-level power conversion, microgrid integration, UPS/BBU and other energy storage solutions.
  • Cross-Business Unit definition: Translate customer requirements into integrated, cross-business-unit solutions spanning power generation, power conversion, and energy storage, defining interfaces, controls, thermal management, safety, and certification needs.
  • Technical Business Development: Lead technical business development activities with target customers, supporting value propositions and unique selling points, opportunity generation, and new business development in close coordination with sales.
  • Competitive/partner landscape and “right_to_play”: Build an outside-in view of the competitive and partner landscape, defining right_to_play positioning and preferred integrator and partner models.
  • Build capabilities and teams: Establish and grow a systems / solutions engineering capability to support future growth and pilot programs.
