About The Position

St. Mary's General Hospital is a community-based tertiary medical center in Passaic, New Jersey, providing acute care and a broad range of services. The hospital is part of Prime Healthcare. The Director of Human Resources formulates and supervises programs related to employee selection, training, promotion, welfare, and employer-employee relationships. The role also advises executive staff on personnel implications of policies, programs, and proposed organizational changes.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree, or eight years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree; alternatively, a degree may be actively in progress, with completion required within 48 months of hire.
Three years of related healthcare experience.
Familiarity with hospital organization, the functions of various departments, current personnel practices and techniques (including review techniques), training methods, and job analysis.
Knowledge of state and federal wage and hour requirements.
Familiarity with Joint Commission and HFAP standards.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree.
PHR, SPHR, or other relevant Human Resources certification, or an advanced degree.
Familiarity with the labor market, laws, wage and hour regulations, and ERISA guidelines.

Responsibilities

Formulate and supervise programs related to employee selection, training, promotion, welfare, and employer-employee relationships.
Interview job applicants.
Develop personnel record forms.
Adjust disputes and grievances and recommend necessary disciplinary actions.
Analyze, classify, and evaluate jobs.
Administer employee welfare and recreation services.
Advise executive staff on the personnel implications of policies, programs, and proposed organizational changes.
