Director, Head of Execution
About The Position
Galaxy Digital is seeking an experienced Algo Trading / Head of Execution to lead development of greenfield algorithmic trading systems and help shape its next-generation trading infrastructure. The role focuses on building and benchmarking execution algorithms and developing a low-latency, high-throughput Algo Trading / Smart Order Router (SOR) system. The successful candidate will work with trading teams, stakeholders, product managers, and external partners in a global, fast-paced environment. They will also mentor junior developers, contribute to architecture, and support production trading systems.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience developing routing strategies for specific markets, such as U.S. equities, EU markets, or crypto exchanges.
- Knowledge of tick data analytics and real-time market data processing.
- Familiarity with cloud-based market access or hybrid deployments.
- Experience working in high-frequency or algorithmic trading environments.
- Experience building low-latency systems and working with multicast/unicast market data feeds.
- Solid understanding of the application stack and infrastructure associated with electronic and algorithmic trading.
- Strong technical background and ability to understand system architecture and technical workflows.
- Proficiency in FIX protocol and trading system architecture, including OMS/EMS and market gateways.
- Familiarity with concurrency, networking, and memory management.
- Experience with Linux systems and performance profiling tools.
- Proactive, problem-solving mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Nice To Haves
- Deep understanding of electronic trading, order types, and market microstructure across equities, options, FX, crypto, or other markets.
- Experience in DeFi or the crypto space.
- Exposure to regulatory or compliance-driven environments.
- Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS or GCP, or with DevOps processes.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead development of a low-latency, high-throughput Algo Trading / Smart Order Router system.
- Implement intelligent routing algorithms based on execution quality, liquidity, latency, and cost.
- Collaborate with traders and product managers to refine routing logic and develop new algorithmic capabilities.
- Integrate the SOR with the trading, booking, and reporting stack.
- Monitor and optimize system performance under real-world trading conditions.
- Mentor junior developers, enforce code quality standards, and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Support production trading issues and continuously improve system resilience and failover mechanisms.
