About The Position

The Director, General Accounting provides senior leadership over general accounting, financial reporting, controls, and compliance for the Pharma Automation Systems organization (Parata). This role ensures financial integrity, US GAAP compliance, and adherence to BD policies while serving as a strategic finance partner to business and finance leadership in a global, regulated medical devices environment. The role operates with significant autonomy, leads complex accounting activities across entities, and contributes to enterprise level finance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Direct end‑to‑end accounting operations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Oversee preparation and review of financial statements, management reporting packages, variance analyses, and KPIs in accordance with US GAAP and BD accounting policies.
  • Ensure robust governance of balance sheet accounts including accruals, reserves, inventory valuation, revenue recognition, leases, and intercompany transactions.
  • Own the design, execution, and continuous improvement of internal controls in compliance with SOX , BD policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the senior finance point of contact for internal and external audits; proactively manage audit readiness and resolution of findings.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory reporting requirements across multinational operations.
  • Act as a key finance partner to Pharma Automation Systems leadership, providing insight to support operational, commercial, and strategic decisions.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities and drive corrective actions in partnership with cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership over financial systems, data integrity, and reporting architecture; Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP) experience preferred .
  • Lead finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives focused on standardization, automation, and scalability.
  • Support ERP enhancements, system integrations, and alignment with BD enterprise finance initiatives.
  • Lead, develop, and retain high‑performing accounting teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear objectives, provide coaching and performance feedback, and build succession plans aligned with BD talent strategies.
  • Model BD Values and ensure strict adherence to BD’s Code of Conduct and ethical standards.
