The FP&A Finance Director will support IDEX Corporation’s FMT and FSDP segments, which deliver ~$2B in combined annual revenue. The Fluid & Metering Technologies (FMT) segment designs and manufactures a range of fluid handling products, including pumps, valves, and flow meters, that are essential to fluid management across various industries such as energy, agriculture and chemicals. The Fire & Safety / Diversified Products (FSDP) segment is comprised of Fire & Safety, which designs and manufactures fire suppression and rescue products used by first responders, along with Diversified Products including precision dispensers to accurately mix and deliver paints as well as clamping solutions used in a variety of industries. This role oversees all FP&A activities across the segment globally, including budgeting, forecasting, consolidated reporting, and analysis of the Income Statement and Working Capital. The FP&A finance director will have strong communications skills related to timelines and deliverables, drive strong analytical rigor, ensure timely and accurate deliverables, and provide insights that support performance management and strategic decision-making. In addition to core FP&A requirements, the segment FP&A director will help shape a forward-looking FP&A function, optimize reporting processes, while also mentoring and supporting FP&A talent development in the businesses. This role allows for excellent growth and exposure across the organization and will often participate ad hoc in strategic projects, local business unit needs and acquisition activity. This position will report to the Group VP, Finance – FMT & FSDP and will be based at either the IDEX Corporate Offices in the Chicago area, an IDEX manufacturing location, or remotely in a US time zone.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance required; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 7–10 years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including manufacturing and FP&A.
  • Advanced experience with Hyperion and/or OneStream; JDE experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Self‑starter with a strong drive for results and continuous improvement.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Serve as a strategic advisor to the Group VP Finance, providing forward-looking analysis, scenario modeling, and decision support.
  • Lead daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting and forecasting processes, providing high-level insights to segment leadership.
  • Ensure timely, accurate reporting with clear communication of timelines and deliverables.
  • Drive adoption of standard reporting packages, and continuously improve analytics tools and KPI dashboards.
  • Develop and refine metrics that drive business performance and support best‑practice sharing.
  • Support ad hoc financial requests from segment leadership.
  • Financial Processes, business optimization and tools: Establish best‑in-class global FP&A processes to improve operational effectiveness and business insight.
  • Collaborate with IT and business optimization teams to improve data quality, accessibility, and analytics capabilities (e.g., PowerBI, Webi, OneStream).
  • Lead and enhance core financial processes including budgeting, forecasting, long‑range planning (STRAP), and management reporting.
  • Participate in monthly MBRs to deepen operational understanding and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Champion digital transformation within FP&A, identifying opportunities to automate manual processes and enhance data visualization.
  • Lead adoption and standardization of new reporting technologies across the segments and business units.
  • Leadership & Projects: Mentor and develop FP&A talent across FMT and FSDP, including best‑practice sharing.
  • Develop strong relationships with business unit leaders and finance leads to ensure adherence to financial processes, timelines, and policies.
  • Lead change management efforts related to new systems, processes, or reporting structures.
  • Lead or support special projects as assigned by segment finance leadership.
  • Represent the segments in enterprise‑wide FP&A initiatives, ensuring alignment and sharing best practices across IDEX.
  • Support M&A activities including due diligence, financial modeling, and integration.
