About The Position

The Director of Fleet Strategy & Programs is accountable for defining, governing, and scaling enterprise-wide fleet strategy across modular and specialty assets in the U.S. and Canada. This role participates in the end-to-end fleet operating model, with primary ownership of Fleet Readiness and enterprise accountability for UTE Optimization, Fleet Visibility & Data Architecture, Fleet Standardization, and Fleet Economics. With responsibility for a large national fleet, this leader translates fleet strategy into executable, cross-functional programs that drive safety, performance, cost efficiency, and lifecycle value. The Director operates as the central owner of fleet programs, standards, and governance, while building and leading a program management team to execute at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in fleet operations, asset management, or logistics, preferably in modular or trailer-based industries.
  • Proven track record in leading enterprise-scale, multi-program initiatives across distributed assets.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to leverage data for decision-making.
  • Proven ability to own and deliver enterprise strategies driving utilization, cost efficiency, and lifecycle performance with clear accountability for outcomes.
  • Strong capability to link strategy to financial impact, including capital planning, ROI optimization, and cost management.
  • Experience leading through influence across Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial, Technology, and Safety in a matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional programs with clear governance, prioritization, and measurable results.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and executive-level recommendations.
  • Experience developing and leading high-performing teams (direct or matrixed) and building organizational capability.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale changes and drive adoption of new processes, tools, and standards across a distributed organization.
  • Strong executive presence with experience influencing senior leadership on strategy, investments, and operational priorities.
  • Experience in asset-intensive or operation-driven environments with knowledge of lifecycle management, utilization, and safety/compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the enterprise fleet strategy for modular and specialty assets, aligned to safety, lifecycle value, utilization, and growth objectives.
  • Establish a fleet governance model covering standards, configurations, lifecycle decisions, and compliance across all markets.
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for fleet strategy decisions impacting readiness, cost, utilization, and risk.
  • Drive standardization across markets, reducing complexity and improving scalability, cost efficiency, and operational consistency.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment, ensuring fleet strategy is integrated into enterprise planning cycles, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Accountable for enterprise fleet performance outcomes, including asset utilization (UTE), fleet availability, lifecycle ROI, and total cost of ownership.
  • Drive measurable improvements in capital efficiency, revenue enablement, and operating cost optimization across the fleet portfolio.
  • Support fleet compliance framework, including safety standards, certifications, documentation, and regulatory readiness.
  • Minimize legal and financial exposure through proactive governance and tracking.
  • Partner on the single source of truth for fleet assets, including attributes, location, condition, compliance, and lifecycle status.
  • Define and enforce enterprise data governance standards for fleet, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across systems and functions.
  • Lead the development of advanced analytics and insights, enabling proactive decision-making, forecasting, and performance optimization.
  • Drive integration of fleet data across platforms (Fleet Ops, Supply Chain, Finance, Technology) to support enterprise-wide reporting and planning.
  • Lead national UTE optimization programs, including idle reduction, redeployment strategies, and transfer rules.
  • Partner with Real Estate and Portfolio Management to align fleet deployment with physical capacity and storage constraints.
  • Design and evolve the modular hub-and-spoke fleet network to maximize interchangeability and utilization.
  • Own lifecycle strategies to maximize asset lifetime profit while minimizing cost burden.
  • Partner on NPV-based decision frameworks for build, refurbish, recertify, redeploy, or dispose.
  • Align demand forecasting and capacity planning with lifecycle actions and supply constraints.
  • Establish standardized repair scopes, refurbishment programs, and recertification workflows by asset category and manufacturer.
  • Ensure readiness programs balance quality, cycle time, safety, and financial return.
  • Govern repair vs. replace thresholds and refurbishment investment decisions.
  • Reduce fleet complexity by defining standard configurations and phasing out non-standard assets.
  • Lead national fleet mix strategy by product line, class, and market.
  • Improve interchangeability across markets to support utilization and speed to revenue.
  • Partner with Technology to deliver automation initiatives such as digital condition scoring, predictive analytics, and AI-enabled reporting.
  • Reduce manual effort and improve decision speed through scalable tooling and data architecture.
