About The Position

The Director, Financial Systems Operations plays a strategic role at the heart of Finance’s digital transformation and the evolution of McKesson Canada’s analytical platforms. They are responsible for the operational integration of corporate analytics initiatives, support the governance of financial data, and the performance of existing analytical and financial solutions. By contributing actively to digital projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, the incumbent acts as an operational architect, an influential leader, and a key decision‑maker for financial analytics initiatives within the team’s mandate. This role requires a holistic vision, strong ability to navigate complexity, and a proven capability to orchestrate collaboration among Finance, IT, and business units. The ultimate objective: maximize the strategic and operational value of the organization’s analytical solutions and financial systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 15 years of professional experience, including 6+ years in leadership roles in financial systems, transformation, or analytics.
  • Strong experience in complex financial and analytical environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent understanding of data governance, performance management, and financial transformation practices.
  • Knowledge of major financial analytics technologies used in large enterprises, including: BI / Analytics Tools: Power BI, SAP SAC, SAP BW; FP&A Platforms: SAP SAC, SAP PaPM; Modern Data Environments: Databricks, Datasphere, Snowflake; Data Governance & Quality: Alation.
  • Knowledge of major financial transactional technologies that feed analytics platforms, including: SAP ecosystem (SAP FI/CO, SAP COPA, SAP PS, SAP SD, SAP S/4HANA, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, political acumen, leadership, and strong ability to operate in ambiguity.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English (required for daily support to internal and/or external clients outside Quebec and/or in the United States).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate a clear strategic vision for financial systems operations aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Define and continuously evolve the 1–3‑year roadmap for analytics, financial, and data initiatives.
  • Structure and strengthen governance for financial data, including standards, data quality, security, and access rights.
  • Assess future organizational needs and guide technological, analytical, and organizational investments.
  • Inspire, mobilize, and align cross‑functional teams (Finance, IT, Business Units) around shared objectives.
  • Serve as an authoritative voice on financial transformation, data architecture, and process evolution.
  • Influence senior leadership (VPs, executives) through strong analysis, strategic insight, and compelling communication.
  • Represent the organization in inter‑unit committees, corporate projects, and transformative initiatives.
  • Oversee the prioritization and execution of key financial analytics programs (e.g., Data Lake, augmented layer, planning systems, profitability systems).
  • Ensure the quality, consistency, and resilience of financial solutions deployed within the organization.
  • Oversee end‑to‑end solution design in collaboration with analysts and architects.
  • Ensure functional and technical alignment across operational, financial, and analytical data flows.
  • Develop KPIs to measure the effectiveness of financial systems and the broader analytics ecosystem.
  • Anticipate operational, technical, and organizational risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Promote continuous improvement and instill a culture of rigour, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Lead a direct and indirect multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop talent, support the growth of functional experts, and strengthen team capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and accountability.
  • Manage resource allocation, team capacity, and workload in line with business priorities.
