•$125,000 - $350,000

About The Position

Edelman Financial Engines is hiring a Director, Financial Planning in Fairfax, Virginia. The posting describes the work as serving clients as a Senior Financial Advisor. The advisor provides objective, fee-based financial advice and asset management in a fiduciary capacity, without marketing activities or commissions, financial incentives, or third-party compensation for recommendations. Clients have already enrolled with the firm and are assigned to advisors, so the role focuses on planning and relationships rather than prospect conversion or managing a sales pipeline. The advisor evaluates clients’ financial situations, analyzes their needs, develops and presents recommendations, and delivers comprehensive planning across their financial lives. The role emphasizes trusted, long-term client relationships, client satisfaction and retention, and organic growth through deeper planning discussions, additional assets, and referrals. Advisors receive continuing education and support from Client Service Managers, as well as retirement-planning tools and software. The company describes its culture as guided by Client First, One Team, Respectful Candor, and Endless Curiosity. The anticipated total target cash range is $125,000–$350,000, comprising base salary and bonus. Bonus potential is linked to performance and success in growing sales and client relationships. Final base pay depends on factors including responsibilities, skills, experience, location, and market conditions. The role may also be eligible for other compensation and benefits, including a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans, and 401(k) contributions; specific benefits are to be discussed during recruitment.
