About The Position

The Director, Service Configuration and Productivity will lead the Service Configuration and Productivity workstream within the Enterprise Transformation Office (ETO) at Scarborough Health Network (SHN). This is an 18-month contract role, backfilling a parental leave. SHN is one of Ontario’s largest community hospital networks, serving a diverse population across three campuses. The ETO was established to drive structural, sustainable change in response to a constrained provincial funding environment, aiming to protect quality and patient safety while meeting fiscal obligations. This high-profile role is central to SHN's transformation agenda, offering the opportunity to work alongside senior leaders on initiatives that directly shape care delivery. The Director reports to the Vice President, Strategy and Transformation and collaborates with the ETO Steering Committee.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Clinical background preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in healthcare management, strategy, or transformation.
  • Direct experience in a hospital or health system setting is required.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to develop executive-level business proposals and manage initiative-level P&Ls and performance dashboards.
  • Excellent facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and executive communication skills.
  • Proven project management and time management discipline with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Change management experience with a collaborative and strategic mindset to support clinical and operational teams through transformation.
  • Knowledge of Ontario hospital funding and the broader provincial health system context.
  • Deep understanding of quality improvement and patient safety principles and how it impacts the transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience with successful implementation and sustainment of large-scale, enterprise-wide projects (e.g. within budget, on time, and within scope).
  • Ability to develop strong relationships across cross-functional leadership, clinical, and operational teams while incorporating and sharing feedback effectively.
  • Current on healthcare industry and industry-adjacent trends, peer organization activities, and emerging opportunities.
  • Proficiency in innovative idea generation, problem identification, fact-finding, strategic planning, guiding the design of emerging initiatives, and ensuring thorough execution of projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in service redesign, capacity optimization, or alternative service delivery is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with Epic and/or Remote Patient Monitoring programs is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Service Configuration and Productivity workstream, overseeing the implementation of active initiatives.
  • Manage implementation plans for initiatives such as Virtual Hospital Strategy, Surgical Services Optimization, Centralized Patient Scheduling Optimization, Standardized Integrated Support Services Model, Virtual Care Strategy (including Remote Patient Monitoring, hospital at home), and Corporate Integrated Services Strategy.
  • Develop and manage implementation plans.
  • Facilitate cross-functional initiative teams.
  • Track financial targets in partnership with Core Finance.
  • Present progress to senior governance, including the ETO Steering Committee and board.
  • Identify emerging opportunities.
  • Mentor Transformation Implementation leads within the workstream.
