About The Position

The Marketing and Communications team at PG&E shapes how the company communicates with its coworkers and with the 16 million people PG&E serves in Northern and Central California. We also keep coworkers informed about the company’s strategy; we bring them information to help them get their jobs done, and we create events and experiences that bring our culture to life and make coworkers feel known, loved and proud to work at PG&E. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations and Advocacy Communications, the Director of Communications for Leader and Coworker Events contributes uniquely to shaping and strengthening PG&E’s culture and business performance. The successful candidate will design and lead execution of high impact coworker events, including quarterly all-coworker meetings, leadership meetings for the company’s Officers and Directors, and signature events that celebrate PG&E’s culture and coworker achievements. This leader will own overall coworker event strategy, lead a team, oversee agency relationships, and be accountable for achieving coworker event metrics. The ideal candidate will have extensive prior experience in corporate and executive communications and employee event oversight. The role is primarily focused on partnering with PG&E’s executive officer team and our People and Strategy teams to develop event agendas, shape event content and to prepare leaders to deliver those sessions. The role requires exceptional executive engagement skills, and a meticulous eye for detail. The successful candidate will be innovative, hands-on, proactive, and passionate about internal communications. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree or equivalent experience
  • Ten (10) years of corporate and executive communications and events or related experience
  • Demonstrated management experience in successfully partnering with senior executive leadership teams to develop coworker engagement strategies

  • Five (5) years of management experience desired with an ability to manage staff and programs
  • Experience leading and mentoring communications or marketing personnel and delegating to team members
  • Experience working across a wide range of industries and markets. Consumer and utility/regulated industry experience a plus.
  • Experience of coworker/employee event leadership, including development of strategic messaging, event planning and budget management
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Development of internal operational procedures and processes that support the development of great communications
  • Ability to integrate and drive projects across an extended organization
  • Experience in or knowledge of employee communications and how to extend the company brand to employees
  • Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) credential
  • Accredited in Public Relations (APR) credential
  • Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) credential

Responsibilities

  • Oversee coworker events team and deliver one annual Officer (VP-and-above) leadership event, two biannual Officer & Director events, quarterly all-coworker events, and annual Champions Awards event.
  • Manage two full-time event planners and coordinators, plus events agencies which provide support with agenda and content development, speaker and venue sourcing, interactive session design, graphics and creative assets.
  • Oversee development of agendas for signature enterprise events ensuring alignment with Executive Officer Team, People team and Chief Communications and Marketing Officer.
  • Develop agenda topics in partnership with key subject matter expert partners in Strategy, Leader Development, Enterprise Transformation Office, and Culture.
  • Secure input from Executive Officer Team and work with internal and external contacts to source and confirm guest speakers.
  • Serve as Q&A moderator for All-Coworker events; attend and provide on-site support for other events as needed.
  • Review critical event materials including Outlook invitations, Know Before You Go messages, and surveys. Draft preview messages from CEO.
  • Oversee coworker events tactical implementation plan (TIP), ensuring work is completed on time and to high quality; provide final approvals on printed collateral, signage, gifts, stage backdrops, and attendee experience elements.
  • Review event scripts and videos and oversee speaker preparation sessions.
  • Direct post-event communication including sharing materials and documentation of event survey scores, and sharing results with the Executive Officer Team.
