About The Position

The Director, Enterprise Architecture leads Liberty Utilities’ enterprise architecture and platform strategy function, aligning technology platforms to utility business capabilities under the guiding principles of Simplify, Standardize, and Align. Reporting to the Vice President, IT Operations, this leader owns the target-state enterprise architecture across all domains - SAP, utility applications and platforms, cloud, security, automation and AI, and integration and data - and governs the team of domain architects responsible for each. The Director establishes architecture principles, standards, and governance that simplify the technology estate, standardize enterprise processes, and align platform investments to business outcomes across Finance, Customer Operations, Grid Reliability, Field Operations, Infrastructure, Risk, and Analytics. The role partners closely with business leaders, cybersecurity, OT, infrastructure, vendor partners, and managed service providers to ensure scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective capabilities across Liberty’s multi-utility operating model, enabling the long-term digital utility strategy while ensuring operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and modernization velocity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive enterprise architecture and technology leadership experience, including 5+ years leading architecture teams or an enterprise architecture function
  • Demonstrated breadth across multiple architecture domains - ERP/SAP, cloud, security, integration and data, and automation/AI
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF preferred) and experience leading large-scale transformation and modernization programs in regulated environments
  • Experience in regulated industries preferred, especially utilities, energy, or critical infrastructure sectors
  • Experience governing system integrators, vendor partners, and managed service providers within outsourced or MSP operating models
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence executives, business leaders, vendors, and cross-functional teams
  • Strong governance, decision-making, financial acumen, risk management, and prioritization capability
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into business outcomes, with a continuous improvement and standardization mindset

Responsibilities

  • Own Liberty’s target-state enterprise architecture strategy across all domains, anchored on the Simplify, Standardize, and Align principles
  • Establish and chair enterprise architecture review boards, architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and technical-debt reduction processes
  • Lead and develop the team of domain architects (SAP, Utility Applications & Platforms, Cloud, Security, Automation & AI, and Integration & Data)
  • Align platform investments and multi-year modernization roadmaps to utility business capabilities and the digital utility strategy
  • Govern SAP S/4 RISE strategy, finance and procurement platforms, enterprise process standardization, and SAP integration governance across Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, and HR
  • Direct architecture for utility applications and platforms including CIS/billing and customer portals, contact center platforms, ADMS/GIS/OMS field operations, and asset and operational data platforms
  • Ensure application architecture supports Customer Operations, Grid Reliability, and Field Operations business capabilities
  • Govern cloud enterprise architecture including Azure governance and landing zones, resiliency standards, hybrid cloud architecture, and the cloud operating model for infrastructure and platform scalability
  • Direct enterprise integration architecture, API governance, operational data flows, and shared data and analytics models
  • Drive interoperability, analytics, and reporting outcomes across SAP and non-SAP ecosystems
  • Oversee security architecture including Zero Trust strategy, IAM governance, cloud security standards, and operational cybersecurity alignment across OT/IT in partnership with the CISO organization
  • Direct automation and AI architecture including AI-enabled operations (AIOps), workflow automation, self-service architecture, and enterprise automation governance
  • Drive operational efficiency, cost optimization, risk, and compliance outcomes through architecture standards
  • Govern architecture compliance for system integrators, vendor partners, and managed service providers, reviewing and approving solution designs against Liberty standards
  • Ensure architectures meet cybersecurity, disaster recovery, resiliency, and regulatory compliance requirements and support enterprise SLAs
