Director Vendor Management

Ensono
$150,000 - $190,000Remote

About The Position

The Director of Vendor Management leads Ensono’s Vendor Management Office (VMO) within Procurement. This fully remote leadership role owns day-to-day vendor lifecycle management — onboarding, contract governance, code of conduct, vendor risk, and ESG reporting and accountability — for a complex enterprise vendor ecosystem spanning mainframe software and hardware, value added resellers, distributed software and hardware, telecom, cloud, and professional services. VMO is the central nervous system between Alliances, Finance, IT, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Sustainability, Bid Management, and business unit leaders for everything vendor-related. The Director also partners closely with the firm’s AI Transformation function within the Office of the CFO, whose AI Agent end-state depends on structured, well-governed vendor data. This role offers significant exposure to senior leaders and outputs feed directly into deliverables reviewed at the CFO and ELT level. Success is measured by clean operational governance, predictable executive-grade reporting, and on-time delivery of the in-flight portfolio.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in vendor management, procurement, strategic sourcing, or a closely related discipline, with at least 3 years in a people-leadership role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate operational detail into executive framing and influence across functions without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated success running a vendor management function in steady state — clean governance, audit-ready posture, predictable executive-grade reporting.
  • Familiarity with enterprise sourcing platforms (Workday Strategic Sourcing or comparable) and contract repositories (DocuSign or comparable).
  • Strong analytical fluency — comfortable working with spend data, contract metadata, vendor risk indicators, and ESG metrics.
  • Track record of partnership with Legal, InfoSec, Compliance, Finance, and IT on vendor matters.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading vendor management at a technology services, IT services, or managed services company at enterprise scale.
  • Hands-on experience with ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., CSRD, SEC climate disclosure, CDP, EcoVadis) and supplier diversity programs.
  • Familiarity with third-party risk management (TPRM) frameworks; comfort working with InfoSec on vendor security reviews.
  • Track record of executing a vendor classification or segmentation methodology across a complex multi-category vendor portfolio.
  • Experience designing or maintaining a vendor onboarding workflow that scales with the business.
  • Comfort interfacing with AI or data initiatives — translating vendor data into structured artifacts that downstream analytical or automated systems can consume.
  • Prior accountability for contract lifecycle management, renewal pipeline forecasting, and contract repository hygiene.
  • Experience supporting M&A due diligence on vendor portfolios.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity (CPSD), or equivalent professional credential.
  • Exposure to using AI tools or technologies to improve efficiency
  • Experience managing others in India

Responsibilities

  • Own vendor lifecycle management end-to-end — standardized onboarding (KYC, financial health, security review, code of conduct attestation), through performance management, through offboarding.
  • Lead contract governance for the firm — repository ownership and folder hygiene, template stewardship, renewal pipeline, expiration alerts, and executive approval workflows.
  • Administer the vendor Code of Conduct — annual distribution, attestation tracking, exception handling, breach escalation, and recertification cadence.
  • Lead vendor ESG reporting and accountability in alignment with corporate ESG commitments and external disclosure requirements (Scope 3 emissions, modern slavery and labor practices, supplier diversity, controversies monitoring); manage the portfolio against published ESG targets in partnership with Corporate Sustainability.
  • Maintain the vendor segmentation framework — Strategic, Emerging, Legacy, Tactical — and ensure differentiated treatment by tier holds across the organization.
  • Drive tier-appropriate vendor risk reviews — security, financial, regulatory, geographic — in partnership with InfoSec, Legal, and Compliance.
  • Deliver quarterly Strategic Vendor reviews for executive leadership; lead renewal-pipeline forecasting and spend coverage reporting.
  • Partner across Legal, InfoSec, Compliance, Finance, IT, Sales, Corporate Sustainability, AI Transformation, and business unit leaders as the firm’s central authority for vendor strategy and execution; recruit, develop, and retain the VMO team.
  • Lead software compliance verification across internal and client environments, including monthly reporting and audit-readiness reviews that reconcile client contracts, vendor agreements, and system data; partner with the AI Transformation function within the Office of the CFO to automate this three-way validation process.
