Director, Engineering

As the Director of Engineering at Narvar, you will be responsible for building and growing the engineering team across North America. Your main focus will be on developing consumer-facing SaaS products and collaborating with the product team to create seamless experiences for clients and end consumers. You will also play a key role in hiring and organizing the team structure. Additionally, you will lead the production of product services and consumer-facing products to engage and delight users.

• Build and lead the operational and directional aspects of the engineering team
• Help team members grow both technically and professionally
• Translate requirements into workstreams for the team to design, estimate, develop, and launch new products and features
• Lead, inspire, teach, and influence the team to embrace modern engineering practices
• Work with the recruiting team to attract and retain high-quality and diverse talent
• Collaborate with other managers to ensure consistent and powerful product experiences
• Establish rapport with Product Managers, Sales, and Success teams for visibility, efficiency, and collaboration
• Provide production support for customer issues and improve operational efficiency
• Have a BS/MS in computer science, information systems, or equivalent
• Have 10+ years of software development experience
• Have previous startup experience
• Have proven hands-on technical management experience of 5+ years
• Have successfully built and managed high-performance distributed teams
• Excel in an informal, fast-paced startup environment with a flat organizational structure
• Can communicate technical designs and processes to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Have experience building high-performance, scalable, highly available, and reliable consumer-facing applications
• Have solid organizational and communication skills
• Have experience designing, building, and integrating with RESTful APIs
• Have experience with Frontend frameworks and technologies like React, Svelte, Typescript
• Have experience designing and scaling relational and NoSQL database platforms
• Have experience with cloud technologies (AWS or GCS), schema design, optimization, query analysis, and databases
• Have deep hands-on expertise in one or more server-side languages: Java, P
