Director, Engagement Strategy

Ogilvy Health USNew York, NY
$100,000 - $230,000

About The Position

Ogilvy Health, part of WPP, combines borderless creativity, scientific precision and cultural fluency to build healthcare’s most influential movements. We drive measurable impact and category-defining growth for brands ready to shape what’s next. Our approach is powered by fearless creativity that dares to be different, sparks emotional connections, and inspires action, ensuring cultural resonance. Scientific precision translates complex data into stories that resonate, while our impact-obsessed mindset focuses on delivering real-world outcomes. Engagement Strategy sits at the intersection of brand, medical, creative, experience, and analytics, turning that thinking into real, connected, audience-inspired experiences. At its core, great engagement never loses sight of who it's for, why it matters to them, and how it moves them forward on their health journey. We're looking for a sharp, hungry, ambitious, multi-faceted Engagement Strategy Director who wants to lean in and build engagement across some of our largest accounts alongside us, at a pivotal moment of growth for the practice and agency at large. This Director will lead day-to-day omnichannel planning for two key clients - spanning CRM strategy, website, social content, and display - making sure the work connects across the broader ecosystem and delivers on each client's core business goals. They'll develop the activation briefs, tactical plans, connected journeys, and playbooks that bring those strategies to life, help shape content and communications strategy, and define audience-inspired channel roles and goals - what job each channel does, for whom, and why - bringing creative teams and account leads with them. They'll also start building the next generation of the discipline, managing and developing one junior strategist along the way. Our team works within our Integrated Strategy model, partnering closely with Brand Strategy, Medical Strategy, and our Research & Insights and Analytics teams to translate insight into real-world action for patients, caregivers, and HCPs. The ideal candidate for this role understands that engagement is more than channels alone. It's audience-inspired at every step: understanding people, what motivates them, what gets in their way, and how brands can create meaningful experiences that help them move forward.

Requirements

  • 6–10 years of experience in engagement strategy, omnichannel strategy, or a related discipline
  • Significant healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare agency experience required.
  • A data-driven storyteller - someone genuinely passionate about connecting audience behaviors to how we can move and shape them.
  • Real depth across the omnichannel mix - web, social, display, and CRM - with specific fluency in CRM strategy (execution not required).
  • Experience helping shape content and communications strategy, including defining channel roles and goals grounded in audience insight.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing people, having directly managed at least one direct report.
  • Strong presentation, storytelling, and facilitation skills, paired with the hunger and drive to build - comfort creating something from a blank page, not just executing an existing playbook.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day engagement strategy for two key clients across CRM, website, social, and display - connecting audience behavior insight into a clear strategic narrative, not just a channel plan.
  • Design connected engagement ecosystems and define audience-inspired channel roles and goals - what job each channel does, for whom, and why - with particular depth in CRM.
  • Build engagement strategy playbooks and plans, partnering with Brand Strategy and Medical Strategy, and with our Research & Insights and Analytics teams on data-informed strategy and measurement.
  • Serve as the go-to cross-functional partner for engagement strategy on the account, partnering with Account, Creative, Brand Strategy, and Medical Strategy.
  • Help shape content and communications strategy, bringing an audience-inspired point of view to how ideas and key messages best come to life.
  • Facilitate workshops, journey mapping sessions, and strategic working meetings that bring the whole team along on the strategy.
  • Manage and develop one junior strategist, providing day-to-day guidance, feedback, and growth opportunities.
  • Mentor junior strategists across the broader practice, modeling what great engagement strategy looks like: curious, kind, collaborative, and always building.
