About The Position

The Goddard School in Columbia, Maryland, is seeking a School Director to oversee daily operations, support educators, and ensure a high-quality learning environment for children and families. The Director upholds brand, licensing, regulatory, and policy standards; leads staff development; implements the Wonder of Learning proprietary curriculum; and builds strong relationships with families and the community. The Wonder of Learning program is designed around children’s learning through play and curiosity. It aims to make learning enjoyable while fostering teamwork, problem-solving, and social-emotional relationships.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, education, or a related field.
At least 8 years of experience teaching in early childhood education.
At least 1 year of experience in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of child development, early learning best practices, and team leadership.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
A genuine love for children and commitment to high-quality education.
Pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience, and credential requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead daily operations while upholding brand, regulatory, licensing, and policy standards.
Hire, train, supervise, and support staff to build a positive, collaborative team.
Build, coach, and mentor the team.
Develop staff training and professional development plans.
Manage enrollment, tours, and class lists.
Build strong relationships with families and promote the school in the community.
Manage the budget, enrollment, and resources for operational success.
Maintain a safe, clean, and prepared environment for children, staff, and visitors.
Implement the Wonder of Learning proprietary curriculum.
