About The Position

The Director, Corporate Partnerships and Special Events will be an experienced, energetic and relationship driven professional who will lead all SVDP events, attract resources for the organization, and develop and strengthen corporate relationships. The position will also provide oversight and management to organization wide volunteerism. This is a leadership role with room to innovate, grow, and engage partners to support the mission driven work of SVDP alongside passionate colleagues and volunteers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, required.
  • 4 years of fundraising, events, sponsorship, and volunteer management experience in a non-profit organization, including proven success in a lead role of managing complex events with multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to inspire corporate and community partners.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and skilled at juggling multiple projects.
  • Confident communicator with strong written, verbal, and public speaking abilities.
  • Experience with fundraising and events software.
  • Experience with automating processes and event logistics.
  • Commitment to serving individuals impacted by poverty, and respect for people of all backgrounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to programs, meetings, and events.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the strategy to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward corporate partners through sponsorships, cash and In Kind gifts and group volunteer opportunities.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for SVDP at community and corporate events, strengthening relationships and opening doors to new partnerships.
  • Collaborate closely with the Development Team and Community Services Board members to identify and develop high potential corporate and community prospects.
  • Work with program staff to identify organizational In Kind needs and match them with corporate and community partners.
  • Create custom group volunteer opportunities that evolve into long term corporate engagement and philanthropic support.
  • Deliver presentations and speaking opportunities to corporate and community groups to share the mission of SVDP and invite deeper involvement.
  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for SVDP’s signature event, Candlelight and Clay, including the supervision of the event planner.
  • Create and lead event committees to drive event success by empowering volunteers and aligning their efforts with organizational goals.
  • Partner with the Development and Communications team and Community Services Board members to ensure the event is well branded, well attended and mission driven.
  • Support additional organizational events as needed, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of execution.
  • Oversee and manage all volunteer activities for the organization, providing direction and support to program level personnel who are charged with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies in certain programs.
  • Oversee volunteer orientation and training programs, including child and youth protection requirements.
  • Train and support staff in best practices for engaging volunteers and creating welcoming, meaningful experiences.
  • Collaborate with program resource development and volunteer coordinators to ensure consistent policies, data tracking and compliance in Volgistics.
  • Partner with the Development Team to grow and steward the Emerging Leaders Committee of community volunteers.
  • Engage volunteer recruitment for development related activities, especially the Charm City Shamrock 5K and Candlelight and Clay events.
  • Provide recruitment and engagement support to the volunteer members of SVDP boards and committees.
  • Oversee the Adopt a Family Holiday giving program, working with volunteer committee and seasonal, Part Time contractor.
  • Works on special projects as needed, balancing priorities to ensure projects progress simultaneously and within established deadlines.
  • Ensures that all fundraising activities are ethical and consistent with the overall mission and philosophy of the organization.
