POSITION SUMMARY The Director, Content Creation and Review (“The Director”) leads the end-to-end operations for ECRI’s guidance, membership, and education content. This role is accountable for the strategic, editorial, and production lifecycle of content across the organization, ensuring delivery of high-quality, timely, and compliant materials in digital and print formats. The Director collaborates across business lines to modernize and standardize content creation, review, and production processes, incorporating AI-enabled and automated solutions where appropriate. This position co-directs ECRI’s content mapping system and integrates content architecture, editorial governance, and production execution into a unified operational model. The Director drives continuous improvement in workflows and user experience, establishes performance metrics to inform capacity and resource planning, manages budgets, and leads multidisciplinary teams responsible for editorial, production, and education support functions.

Requirements

  • 10 years of professional experience, preferably in publications, production, and/or content creation.
  • Minimum of 5 years' work experience in process management and improvement.
  • Minimum 5 years' work experience in managing staff across a range of disciplines and experience levels.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, problem solving experience, and professional manner.
  • Advanced experience with data collection and analysis, as well as spreadsheet development and maintenance.
  • Excellent writing and analysis skills.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple tasks, as well as working independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent customer service skills with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to meet task deadlines and communicate well within the department and company.
  • Flexible, team player who can adjust to and work to improve changing processes.
  • Proficient with: Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Microsoft Teams Confluence PowerBI

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Project Management / Continuous Improvement certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB) and Professional in Project Management (PMP) are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The Director is accountable for end-to-end content creation, editorial and production operations across ECRI’s including education content portfolios. In addition to strategic leadership, the Director is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, consistency, timeliness, and quality across all editorial and production outputs.
  • Establish and oversee editorial standards, workflows, and quality controls for all content types, including publications, digital content, learning materials, and member-facing deliverables.
  • Ensure consistent, compliant application of ECRI editorial style, branding, and content governance standards across all platforms and formats.
  • Oversee copyediting, proofreading, and content readiness processes to ensure accuracy, clarity, and regulatory alignment prior to release.
  • Serve as final editorial authority for escalated content issues, publication risk, and quality assurance reviews.
  • Direct and optimize production workflows for print, digital, and hybrid content, including layout, formatting, metadata application, website posting, accessibility requirements, and archival practices.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and execution of publication schedules, editorial calendars, and production timelines across all business lines.
  • Ensure production readiness and coordination with design, media services, web governance, marketing, assembly, and print vendors or internal teams.
  • Oversee document and content lifecycle management, including version control, content repositories, retention, and sunsetting processes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain editorial and production SOPs that standardize roles, responsibilities, handoffs, and approval workflows.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve quality, and enhance content creator and user experience.
  • Conduct regular audits of editorial and production operations to identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for automation or optimization.
  • Integrate AI-enabled tools into content development, editorial, and production workflows in alignment with approved governance, training, and compliance standards.
  • Serve as senior leader and primary escalation point for editorial and production aspects of new initiatives, special reports, advisories, and redesigned or expanded content offerings.
  • Provide editorial and production consultation to business lines to support content strategy, feasibility, resourcing, and execution planning.
  • Ensure externally sponsored or contract-based content meets all editorial, production, and delivery requirements outlined in executed agreements.
  • Direct editorial, analyst, education support, and production resources to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and capacity.
  • Oversee workload planning and resource allocation to balance strategic initiatives with recurring production demands.
  • Mentor and develop managers and senior staff to strengthen editorial judgment, production expertise, and leadership capabilities.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to forecast staffing, tooling, and budget needs tied to content and production growth.
  • Supervise editorial team and Manager Education. Lead and support their training, development, work tasks, and development in skills and responsibilities.
  • Hire staff as needed and complete an onboarding and training process.
  • Address and perform manager-related tasks as required, including performance reviews and personnel management
  • Attend manager meetings, seminars, workshops, as required.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
