About The Position

Oversight of the Community and Cultural Outreach Department whose function is to facilitate the Cherokee Nation Government's professional and efficient communication, assistance, and interaction with all Cherokee Community and Community Organizations. Also responsible for compliance with applicable federal, state, funding, or other agency requirements and regulations and Cherokee Nation Policies and Procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Public Policy, Native American Policy, Business Management/Administration or closely related field; or six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An additional five (5) years experience in related field is required.
  • Knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to deal with dissatisfied/irate customers, high knowledge of Cherokee and Native American cultures, ability to travel extensively.
  • Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • Ability to professionally interact with high-ranking government officials from the Cherokee Nation, other Indian Tribes, and other local/state/federal entities.
