About The Position

Fiserv is seeking an engineering leader to own the technology behind how merchants discover, onboard, activate, and grow with Clover. The Director will lead globally distributed engineering teams, including offshore teams, and transform Clover.com and the onboarding platform into a unified, self-service growth engine. The role focuses on reducing merchant friction, shortening time to first transaction, and making the end-to-end experience measurable, using a product-led growth mindset and an AI-first approach to software delivery. The Director will build and develop engineering teams and managers, establish an effective global operating model, and partner with Product, Design, Marketing, Sales, Risk/Underwriting, and Operations. The role will introduce AI-assisted development and agentic automation across the software development lifecycle, with appropriate measurement, security, privacy, intellectual-property safeguards, governance, observability, and human oversight. The position owns merchant onboarding and growth capabilities, including product-led growth foundations, unified merchant journeys, and Clover.com’s evolution into a scalable, globally consistent digital platform. It is accountable for shared KPIs and end-to-end attribution, simplification of the technology stack, and engineering excellence across reliability, security, performance, release quality, and delivery predictability. This is an on-site role Monday through Friday and requires use of a computer and audio equipment.

Requirements

  • 12 or more years of software engineering experience, including 5 or more years leading engineering managers or multi-team organizations.
  • Proven experience leading offshore or globally distributed engineering teams, including vendor or captive-center models, with strong delivery outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders across locations and time zones, including strong asynchronous communication and alignment skills.
  • Hands-on experience using AI in the software development lifecycle, such as AI coding assistants, AI-driven testing, and AI-enabled code review, with measurable productivity and quality gains.
  • Experience designing, piloting, and scaling agent-based automation with appropriate governance, security, and human oversight.
  • Proven experience building or scaling product-led growth capabilities, including experimentation platforms, funnel instrumentation, lifecycle messaging, self-service acquisition, and activation.
  • Deep experience with merchant or customer onboarding in fintech, payments, SaaS, or marketplaces, including application flows, KYC/KYB, risk and underwriting integrations, and provisioning workflows.
  • Strong merchant or customer experience orientation and a track record of improving conversion, time-to-value, and satisfaction using data.
  • Strong technical depth in modern web and API architectures, microservices, cloud platforms, and headless CMS or composable architectures.
  • Ability to simplify complex, fragmented ecosystems and establish clear ownership across teams.
  • Excellent communication and ability to influence executives and partner with Product, Marketing, and Sales leaders.

Nice To Haves

  • Maintain consistent quality, velocity, and engagement across engineering sites.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Marketing, Sales, Risk/Underwriting, and Operations across regions and time zones; establish effective communication, decision-making, and documentation practices.
  • Introduce and scale AI-assisted development throughout the software lifecycle, measuring productivity, quality, and cycle-time impact and establishing responsible-use safeguards.
  • Identify, build, and scale agent-based engineering workflows, with human-in-the-loop controls, observability, and governance.
  • Build product-led growth foundations, including event tracking, experimentation and A/B testing, personalization, contextual messaging, and a customer data layer; connect these capabilities to activation, adoption, and attach rates.
  • Simplify merchant onboarding from lead and application through underwriting, provisioning, activation, and first transaction; reduce drop-offs, decline rates, and manual intervention.
  • Align merchant archetypes, journeys, and funnels across self-service, sales-assisted, bank, ISO, and partner channels.
  • Evolve Clover.com into a scalable, globally consistent platform using modular headless CMS architecture, reusable components and design systems, and SEO/AEO foundations.
  • Establish shared KPIs and end-to-end attribution from discovery through onboarding, activation, and lifetime value.
  • Rationalize technology tools and reduce overlap, unclear ownership, and handoff friction across experience, orchestration, and services layers.
