Fiserv•Sunnyvale, CA
•$183,000 - $276,000•Onsite

About The Position

Clover is seeking an engineering leader to own the technology behind how merchants discover, onboard, activate, and grow with Clover. The role leads globally distributed teams, including offshore engineering teams, to make Clover.com and the onboarding platform a unified, self-service growth engine. The aim is to reduce merchant friction, shorten time to first transaction, and measure journeys end to end. The leader will bring a product-led growth mindset and an AI-first approach to software development and delivery. The role is on-site Monday through Friday. It requires use of a computer and audio equipment. Fiserv describes in-person collaboration as essential to onboarding and productivity.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading engineering managers or multi-team organizations.
  • Proven experience leading offshore or globally distributed engineering teams, including vendor or captive-center models, with strong delivery outcomes.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness working with stakeholders across multiple locations and time zones, including strong asynchronous communication and alignment skills.
  • Strong, hands-on experience leveraging AI in the software development lifecycle, such as AI coding assistants, AI-driven testing, and AI-enabled code review, with measurable productivity and quality gains.
  • Experience designing, piloting, and scaling agent-based automation workflows with appropriate governance, security, and human oversight.
  • Proven experience building or scaling product-led growth capabilities, including experimentation platforms, funnel instrumentation, lifecycle messaging, self-service acquisition, and activation.
  • Deep experience with merchant or customer onboarding in fintech, payments, SaaS, or marketplaces, including application flows, KYC/KYB, risk and underwriting integrations, and provisioning workflows.
  • Strong merchant or customer experience orientation, with a track record of improving conversion, time-to-value, and satisfaction using data.
  • Strong technical depth in modern web and API architectures, microservices, cloud platforms, and headless CMS or composable architectures.
  • Ability to simplify complex, fragmented ecosystems and drive clear ownership across teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence executives and partner with Product, Marketing, and Sales leaders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in payments, POS, or SMB SaaS.
  • Familiarity with customer data platforms, personalization or recommendation engines, and SEO/AEO/GEO.
  • Experience with global, multi-region digital experiences and design systems.
  • Experience building AI-assisted experiences for merchant guidance and onboarding.
  • Experience establishing AI governance and responsible-use practices for engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, hire, coach, and develop engineering managers and senior engineers across onshore and offshore locations, building a high-trust, high-accountability culture with clear ownership and shared standards.
  • Define and operate an effective offshore model, including team structure, ownership boundaries, handoffs, on-call coverage, and follow-the-sun practices; maintain consistent quality, velocity, and engagement across sites.
  • Partner across locations and time zones with Product, Design, Marketing, Sales, Risk/Underwriting, and Operations; establish effective communication rhythms, decision-making norms, and documentation practices.
  • Introduce and scale AI-assisted development across requirements and design, coding, code review, testing, security scanning, release, and incident response; measure impact and set responsible-use safeguards for security, privacy, and intellectual property.
  • Identify and build agent-based workflows that automate engineering tasks, with human-in-the-loop controls, observability, and governance.
  • Build product-led growth foundations, including event-tracking standards, experimentation and A/B testing, personalization, in-app and contextual messaging, and a customer data layer; connect these capabilities to activation, adoption, and attach rates.
  • Own and simplify the merchant onboarding experience from lead and application through underwriting decision, provisioning, activation, and first transaction; reduce drop-offs, decline rates, and manual intervention.
  • Align merchant archetypes, journeys, and funnels across self-service, sales-assisted, bank, ISO, and partner channels.
  • Modernize Clover.com into a scalable, globally consistent platform using modular headless CMS architecture, reusable components and design systems, and strong SEO/AEO foundations.
  • Establish shared KPIs and end-to-end attribution from discovery through onboarding, activation, and lifetime value.
  • Rationalize the technology stack by reducing tool overlap, unclear ownership, and handoff friction across experience, orchestration, and services layers.
  • Own reliability, security, performance, release quality, and delivery predictability for merchant-facing systems.
