About The Position

Leads the end-to-end design and development of scalable, resilient cloud-based applications and provides strategic technical direction aligned with organizational goals. Architects and directs complex software solutions using AWS, establishes technical standards, and guides engineering teams in best practices. Oversees development of testable, maintainable software in Python, Java, and Go, ensuring code quality, scalability, and security. Works with systems analysts, software engineers, and cross-functional partners to define architecture, clarify requirements, and assess performance constraints and integration needs. Directs software testing and validation, programming workflows, and documentation standards. The role translates business vision into architectural strategy, leads organization-wide initiatives, advises senior management on technical strategy, and provides leadership and technical direction to multiple teams. It also researches technologies, identifies organization-wide opportunities, plans resource needs, and coaches team members. Fidelity states that it will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position. Its onsite working model is transitioning through a phased regional and role-based rollout; expectations vary and may evolve.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent), and six years of experience as a Director, Cloud Engineering or in a closely related occupation designing, engineering, architecting, and optimizing cloud platforms for ultra-low latency, high throughput, and scalability across AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments; alternatively, a master’s degree in one of those fields (or foreign education equivalent) and four years of such experience.
Demonstrated expertise architecting, designing, and engineering public and private cloud platforms using Docker, native Kubernetes, Rancher Kubernetes Services (RKS), and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
Demonstrated expertise assessing, reviewing, and developing Kubernetes platform features based on business requirements from large-scale business units.
Demonstrated expertise designing and executing enterprise-level application migration strategies from legacy platforms to on-premises and public Kubernetes clusters.
Demonstrated expertise creating Kubernetes orchestration solutions to automate, deploy, scale, and operate containerized microservice applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher.
Demonstrated expertise writing Kubernetes operators to automate enterprise processes using Golang.
Demonstrated expertise building, deploying, and rehydrating Kubernetes clusters and underlying infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher.
Demonstrated expertise implementing enterprise-level Kubernetes logging and observability using FluentD, Fluent Bit, Kafka, Datadog, Splunk, and ELK Elastic Search.
Demonstrated expertise providing cloud platform buildouts, upgrades, and bug fixes in development, non-production, and production environments using Golang, Python, Shell, Bash, and Jenkins.
Demonstrated expertise creating, updating, and deleting application load balancers using AVI and F5 APIs.
Demonstrated expertise implementing self-service Kubernetes upgrades.
Demonstrated expertise building pipelines to develop, deploy, and support Kubernetes cloud platform applications using ArgoCD, FluxCD, Kraan, and CI/CD tools.
Demonstrated expertise implementing platform security using Gatekeeper and External Secrets Operator.
Demonstrated expertise deploying, updating, and maintaining monitoring solutions for on-premises and public cloud environments using Datadog, Prometheus, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, and Kube State Metrics.
Demonstrated expertise performing incident and change management using Service Now.
Demonstrated expertise implementing uninterrupted application upgrades, bug fixes, and patches.
Demonstrated expertise managing end-to-end documentation of future application support processes from design to delivery using Confluence, Backstage, or mkdocs.

Responsibilities

Translate business vision and strategy into architectural strategy recommendations at the functional level.
Participate in high-level, cross-functional architecture design teams.
Identify and consult internal and external technical resources to produce cross-company strategic designs.
Consult on the development and delivery of major technology initiatives for the business unit.
Consult on deployment of major project deliverables and documentation of major technology applications.
