About The Position

MongoDB is hiring a Chief of Staff to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), a senior operator who multiplies the CIO’s impact and works with executives and leaders across the company. The role runs the Office of the CIO’s operating rhythm, leads the IT Program Management Office (ITPMO), governs the IT portfolio, and drives strategic program execution. It combines strategic direction with hands-on execution: shaping the CIO’s agenda, translating IT strategy into plans and measurable outcomes, and ensuring timely decisions and follow-through. The position is based in Palo Alto, California, under a hybrid working model. The Chief of Staff partners with CIO leadership, Finance, HR, IT leaders, Chiefs of Staff, and business-unit leaders. The role oversees cross-pillar programs, portfolio governance, planning, executive communications, financial and resource transparency, and the ITPMO team and Executive Administrators supporting IT VPs. It also establishes delivery standards and uses data and AI-enabled tools to improve the scalability of governance, reporting, and executive support. Success means the CIO’s time is focused on high-value priorities, decisions occur on schedule, IT initiatives are governed through a transparent portfolio, investments align with company objectives and OKRs, the ITPMO is known for execution excellence, and IT VPs receive consistent, high-quality executive support. This is described as a senior operator role, rather than a project management or administrative role. MongoDB describes itself as a global data platform company serving more than 67,000 customers, including approximately 75% of the Fortune 100. It emphasizes employee development, a supportive and enriching culture, employee affinity groups, fertility assistance, and a generous parental leave policy. MongoDB provides reasonable accommodations in the application and interview process and is an equal opportunity employer.
