About The Position

CrossCountry Consulting is looking for a seasoned and well-networked business development professional to join our growing Chicago team. This is a newly created senior-level opportunity that will work closely with our Chicago and Midwest Practice Leaders across all our practices (Accounting Advisory, Risk Advisory, Technology-Enabled Transformation etc.). Requirements

  • 10+ years of demonstrated success in business development, with a proven track record of selling within professional services, staffing, or software to the Office of the CFO.
  • Extensive, actionable professional network in the Chicago and Midwest region – with strong, trusted relationships across the Office of the CFO, finance leadership, and C-Suite at mid-market and enterprise commercial companies.
  • Demonstrated success as a hunter – a track record of opening new relationships, building pipeline from scratch, and closing new logos by working collaboratively with delivery leaders and practice experts to win.
  • Knowledge of the business development cycle – including sales planning, lead generation, pipeline management, account planning, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams and with all levels at the firm.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Comfort operating in an entrepreneurial environment – able to build structure and pipeline while leveraging the full strength of CrossCountry’s national practice and delivery teams.
  • Comfort with AI: Demonstrated ability to responsibly explore and adopt firm-approved AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation.
  • Creative, self-confident, and flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Hunt, build, and close – identify target clients across Chicago and the Midwest, within the Office of the CFO, and work collaboratively with CrossCountry’s practice leaders and delivery teams to convert opportunities into new engagements.
  • Develop, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at target companies – including C-Suite, controllers, finance leadership, board members, and centers of influence.
  • Leverage your network across the CFO, Controller, and finance leadership communities to position CrossCountry as the go-to advisory partner in the Chicago and Midwest market.
  • Plan and execute unique, high-impact business development networking events.
  • Serve as a visible market ambassador for CrossCountry – representing the firm at industry events, client forums, and community networks to build brand presence and pipeline simultaneously.
  • Work closely with marketing resources to develop effective, targeted go-to-market plans for the industry teams they support.
  • Be part of building and scaling a world-class national sales organization and BD capability.
  • Track and report on pipeline performance, providing regular updates to firm leadership on activity, opportunities, and revenue forecast.
