About The Position

Neo is seeking a Director of Brand Marketing and Communications to build and own the brand's identity, voice, and campaigns that attract customers. This role is responsible for making the brand real through daily output, including campaigns, creative, and messaging, ensuring the quality bar for all public-facing Neo materials. The Director will bridge high-level strategy and hands-on execution, leading Neo's growth and partnering with founders to shape the PR profile, with the eventual goal of full ownership of the function. The role requires a leader who can fill gaps in the existing creative infrastructure, raise the bar for brand output, and act as connective tissue between brand, social, communications, growth, product, and lifecycle teams without compromising creative integrity.

Requirements

  • Genuine eye for quality and high standards.
  • Ability to push back on briefs, creative, and messaging that don't meet standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to create work that one is proud of.
  • Strong writing skills; ability to put words on a page.
  • Experience running campaigns end-to-end (integrated planning, agency management, production timelines, performance analysis).
  • Understanding of how to build a brand rooted in product value.
  • Experience in an evolving organizational structure.
  • Ability to build trust through initiative.
  • 8+ years in brand marketing with demonstrated ownership of integrated campaigns.
  • Equally effective as an individual contributor and a team leader.
  • Strong creative direction skills.
  • B2C experience.
  • Canadian market experience preferred.
  • Based in Canada; work in-person.

Nice To Haves

  • Financial services or consumer tech experience.
  • Experience with committee approvals and multi-month campaign cycles (to understand what *not* to do).
  • Experience managing agencies and providing creative direction.
  • Experience in PR, including media relationships, announcement strategy, and understanding journalist needs.

  • Build trust through initiative and help senior leadership sharpen their focus.
