Director, AI Content Studio

Loblaw Companies LimitedBrampton, ON
CA$128,000 - CA$176,000

About The Position

Content demand has permanently outpaced traditional production models. Reporting to the Head of Production, this role will help build and lead Loblaw Agency’s AI Content Studio — a fast-paced, start-up-style capability designed to meet growing content needs across our brand partners and Agency teams. The Studio will integrate generative AI into agile production workflows across image, video, motion, copy, versioning, and asset adaptation — helping the Agency produce more content, faster, while maintaining strong creative judgment, brand consistency, and production quality. This is a hands-on production leadership role. Success requires genuine, current fluency with AI content tools and the ability to personally create finished stills, motion, and video deliverables. This is not a strategy-only or oversight-only mandate. The Director will be expected to produce work directly, shape the workflows, lead a lean team, and teach others as AI production capabilities evolve.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in creative production, content production, creative direction, studio leadership, advertising, brand content, design, motion/video, creative technology, or a related field.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft, conceptual thinking, visual storytelling, and the ability to turn briefs into production-ready creative deliverables.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated, hands-on experience in AI content creation, including brand work, campaign work, production experiments, or personal projects that show advanced fluency with generative AI tools.
  • Ability to produce finished creative content independently across stills, motion, video, and related content formats using AI tools — not just direct others to do so.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume content environments, such as an agency, in-house brand studio, production studio, or similar setting.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted production approaches, including automation, templating, modular content systems, versioning, and content scaling, with the ability to evaluate new tools and assess their feasibility.
  • Experience leading lean teams, managing external partners, and building relationships across creative, strategy, production, technology, and brand partner teams.
  • A genuine willingness and ability to teach, coach, upskill, and influence others as new tools and techniques emerge.

Responsibilities

  • Build and Lead the Studio: Stand up the AI Content Studio’s tools, workflows, standards, intake processes, and quality gates in partnership with the Head of Production. Bring a start-up mindset to the role, defining process as you go while building a scalable production model. Lead a small, lean production team while staying active in the work yourself, not managing purely through delegation. Build internal capability to absorb work that may currently rely on external vendors, where it makes sense for quality, speed, rights, and efficiency. Evaluate AI tools, platforms, vendor relationships, and build-vs-buy decisions as the production model evolves.
  • Produce and Scale the Work: Take a hands-on role creating finished content deliverables — including stills, motion, video, adaptations, and production-ready assets — using AI and traditional creative production methods. Work fluently across current and emerging AI production tools for image, video, motion, copy, editing, versioning, and asset adaptation. Translate briefs from strategy, creative, and brand partners into production-ready content with strong visual judgment. Use AI to elevate creative quality, improve speed, and expand production capacity — not simply to reduce cost. Support high-volume and fast-turnaround content needs across brand partners and Agency teams.
  • Lead AI Adoption, Teaching, and Governance: Identify, pilot, and operationalize new AI tools across ideation, design, motion, editing, versioning, and asset adaptation. Build reusable playbooks, prompt approaches, workflow documentation, and quality standards that allow AI production practices to scale beyond one person. Proactively teach colleagues new tools, workflows, and techniques as the AI landscape evolves. Serve as an internal authority on AI production, helping teams understand what is ready to use, what is emerging, and what is not yet viable. Partner with production, brand, legal, technology, and other internal stakeholders to support responsible AI use, including rights/IP, privacy, brand safety, disclosure, and approval requirements.
  • Measure Impact: Define and track practical measures of studio impact, including production speed, output quality, adoption, cost efficiency, and the volume of work successfully handled in-house. Bring a clear point of view on how AI tools should be woven into broader brand, creative, and production strategies. Act as a bridge between creative ambition, technical feasibility, and operational delivery.
